The Boston Celtics are the hottest team in basketball right now and today they take on one of the more struggling teams in the Atlanta Hawks. Just a couple of weeks back Atlanta actually gave Boston a run for their money, so can they do it again today?

 Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks

The Celtics come into this contest on a massive winning streak having just beaten the Golden State Warriors at home. That was a serious come back by them considering they were down double digits a couple times during the game, and oddsmakers have come out for this contest making them a natural favorite. Although Boston should be able to keep their winning streak intact I actually like Atlanta plus the points in this spot for my NBA pick. Atlanta has not played very good basketball this season but recently we have seen them start to play a little bit better, and the last time they played Boston the game went down to the wire. In that contest they matched the Celtics step for step with both teams shooting 48% from the field, however, Boston held the advantage shooting 50% from distance.

In their last few games Atlanta has started to show some life losing by one point at New Orleans and blowing out Sacramento in their last game. Looking at their schedule they have had a lot of tough matchups this season but there is a reason why oddsmakers have actually made this line pretty low at just -6.5.  I think it’ll be quite difficult for Boston to get emotionally ready for this contest considering they just beat the best team in the league, and Atlanta will definitely play their guts out. Even without the emotional factor though this is an Atlanta team that is shooting 40.1% from distance which ranks second in the NBA, and they rank right in the middle the league shooting 45.5% overall. Boston has been tremendous defensively but with their offensive statistics not really popping off the screen, shooting just 42.7% overall and 34.6% them distance, I think Atlanta not only has a chance to cover but actually pull the upset.
