Five games tonight seems like a huge slated Thursday of NBA action compared to most Thursdays. With that in mind, let’s parlay together two NFL picks for extra profit potential.

Heat vs. Wolves
Miami is off to somewhat of a slow start, but with a lot of new players, including some still making it back from injuries last season, the Heat have somewhat stumbled out of the starting gate. However, on the road tonight against a below average team, the Heat have a great chance to get right, and with the NBA Odds only favoring them at -3½ on the road here, it’s an excellent chance to lay the points for the win.

The Heat have been good against sub-standard teams this season, as well as their game against Houston. With their defense and pace playing to their advantage in a game like this against the Wolves, Miami is going to disrupt the Wolves’ fast-paced offense. So far this year, Minnesota has played at the 9th fastest pace of any team, with the Heat playing as almost the slowest team in the league, this will lead to rushed shots for the Wolves, and with Miami just good enough on defense to limit Minnesota even more, the fact that this game is at home for the Wolves doesn’t matter too much.

I sincerely doubt Minnesota has as much success on the offensive end as they have been to start the year, and while they have been equally successful on the defensive end, the teams they have played to start the season have not been great. The Blazers, Lakers and Nuggets will all be lottery teams in the West right alongside the Wolves. Miami is by far the toughest team Minnesota has faced this season, and I think it shows tonight.

Hornets vs. Mavs
For the second leg of the parlay tonight, the Hornets head back on the road, and this time to Dallas to play the Mavs. The NBA Odds have the Mavs as slight -4 favorites in this one, but the total of 196 points is so much more intriguing for an NBA pick. Charlotte might have broken out of their early-season offensive slump against the Bulls two nights ago after dropping 130 points, and even here on the road, the Mavs are a worse defense team than the Bulls.

As long as Charlotte can get into the 95-point range, this one is bound to go over. The Mavericks are currently giving up 102 points per game at home this season, and even though that is only a one-game sample size, the Hornets’ diverse offense should be able to score easily against the soft Dallas interior defense. Charlotte also has not been at the peak of their defensive upside to start the season either. Through their first four games, the Hornets are giving up 100 points per game.

If you compare this matchup to previous matchups between the Hornets and Mavs, it might look like the under is the right matchup. Even though the total has dropped from 200 to 196, the value has opened up, and some books are starting to raise the total back up to 197. Dallas should be able to play much better on offense tonight than they did on their home opener against the Raptors. Take the over on this one.

Free NBA Picks: 2-team parlay, Heat -3 ½ & OVER 196 Hornets vs. Mavs
