There is no telling what the final score of tonight's matchup in Minnesota might be, thanks to Memphis' epic level of tanking. However, the first-half total looks like a fine wager.

Memphis has posted some huge losses this season, but when you’re fighting for the best odds to land the No. 1 overall draft pick, you tank hard and often. That will continue tonight at Minnesota. Tyreke Evans has already been ruled out, and it would not surprise me to see other questionable Grizzlies ruled out for this one as well.

However, as much as that hurts the Grizzlies’ chances of covering any spreads in this game, the "total" on the NBA odds board looks like a better play in these circumstances.

Memphis has yet to play much defense this season, and in the first half of road games their defense has been flat-out bad. The Grizzlies are giving up almost 60 points per first half on the road, and the Timberwolves rank second in the league in first-half offensive rating.

Minnesota has allowed an average of 60.6 first-half points in their past five games, so don’t think this play is good only because of Memphis.

Neither team is playing much defense down the stretch, so add the first-half "over" to your NBA picks.
