The Nets and Hawks meet in Atlanta on Friday night in a game that could be a lot higher scoring than the 211 total suggests, but is that the best bet to make in our NBA picks?

After opening at 210 points, the total for this game on the NBA odds board went up a point Friday morning, and it might go up even higher than that by tip-off. These two teams play at fast paces, and while neither of them have much offense, that may not matter much tonight against each other’s defenses.

The Hawks have the NBA's third-worst defensive rating at home at 108.8, and the Nets play at the fourth-fastest pace on the road at 102.5 possessions per game.

That’s a recipe for a lot of scoring, yet this game has a total that’s 10 to 15 points less than some of the other potentially higher scoring games tonight. That’s a mistake by the sportsbooks, in my opinion.

While games such as Houston-Phoenix and Golden State-Milwaukee have more star power, this game could easily end up with both teams north of 110 points, which is why I like the over for my NBA pick.
