By far the biggest spread in Monday's NBA action is in the Kings-Thunder game. However, the total could have some nice value if Sacramento brings its defense.

The Kings got beat up twice by the Clippers recently, giving up 121 and 126 points. Even though Sacramento's defense is not good, especially on the road, they are going up against a solid defensive team in Oklahoma City that could use a home game like this one to continue getting back on track.

The Kings are giving up 112.2 points per 100 possessions on the road, but they are scoring only 98.6 points per 100 possessions on the road -- by far the worst road offense of all 30 NBA teams. If Sacramento runs into the good Thunder defense tonight, they are not even going to reach 90 points, let alone 100, so the total is my focus in my NBA picks.

In their first meeting this season the Thunder lost to the Kings 94-86 when OKC was struggling in November. Even though the Thunder have lost five of their last eight SU, they have started to turn their defense around some. The under has cashed in two of the last three for the Thunder, and when they play at home they give up just 102.3 points per 100 possessions. However, their offense is average at home, and their pace is still pretty slow.

If this game turns into a half-court game -- walking the ball up after it’s inbounded -- the under on the NBA odds board should be a fine value. While neither team has played well defensively lately, coming off a long road trip and a day’s rest should pay off for the Thunder.
