Dallas Mavericks

For the past two months the Dallas Mavericks have turned their season around and they proved that the other night with a big win over the Los Angeles Clippers. That was a good bounce back game for them after getting blown out by Golden State. Tonight they host a Toronto team that is also coming off a big win versus Miami. Who wins this Eastern versus Western Conference showdown?

Toronto Raptors

I was really surprised by how Toronto was able to handle Miami in Miami without point guard Kyle Lowry. I attribute that win though a little bit to the fact that Miami had an off shooting night, but got to give some credit to Toronto for getting it done. A couple weeks back Toronto thumped Dallas in Toronto 100-78. Dallas arguably played their worst game over the past couple months shooting just 36.5% overall and 28% from distance while Toronto shot 47.4% and 36% respectively. On the season Toronto is averaging 107.1 points per game and rank in the top part of the league in most offensive statistics. They also hover around the top 10 in most defensive statistics but rank 18th in opponent shooting efficiency. For me until they get Lowry back Toronto is a decent team to fade on the road, and although they had a big win in Miami I simply don’t think they get it done tonight against the Mavericks.

 Dallas Mavericks

Dallas is 11-4 since the end of January and just look like a completely different team than we saw the first half of the season. With a big win over the Los Angeles Clippers I think this gives this Dallas team some momentum to get some revenge against Toronto tonight. Although their statistics are not that great across the board they are a little bit skewed because of how poorly they played the first two months of the year.  I believe they will have some success tonight in knocking down shots from distance as they are shooting 36% from range which ranks right in the middle the league knocking down 10.6 three pointers per contest. Defensively like offensively their statistics are not that great but because of their pace Dallas ranks first in the NBA allowing opponents just 78.5 attempts, and rank fourth in opponent field goals made per game. I’m not letting the fact that they got blown out in Toronto swaying me very much and believe odds makers have this line tight for a reason. This game will probably go down to the wire so I think there is value in backing the home team.

 NBA Odds

Dallas has been made a small -1 favorite in this spot and for my NBA pick, I will take them minus the point. Expect for the Mavericks to win this game by five or more points and get some revenge on the Raptors.
