Golden State travels to Target Center to take on slumping Minnesota today. Steph Curry is out with an ankle injury, which will slow the Warriors' attack. Look for value in the game total.

Curry Out Equals Road Game Struggles

Stephen Curry (right ankle), David West (arm) and Patrick McCaw (left wrist) skipped the trip to Minnesota to receive treatment to their injuries. Without its two-time MVP (Curry), Golden State snapped a seven-game win streak on Friday, losing 125-108 at Portland. Kevin Durant poured in 40 points, but the team proved out of sync with its centerpiece missing. The rotations particularly struggled on the offensive glass, outrebounded 34.1 percent to 15.8 percent in the loss.

Curry, who sprained his troublesome right ankle on a layup attempt two minutes into the Spurs contest on Thursday, is considered day-to-day. He also missed three weeks in December after spraining his left ankle.

Head coach Steve Kerr is hoping the absence is shorter this time around, particular with a trio of road tests in the next eight days. Since assuming coaching duties in 2014, the Warriors are just 6-7 SU and 3-10 ATS in away games with Curry out. They are failing to cover a -1.8 line by 5.9 points per game. Durant has suited up in six, the team going 5-1 SU and 2-4 ATS overall.

Offensive stats dip across the board with Curry missing for road tests. The biggest impact is from long-range. The Warriors drain just 8.7 3-pointers per game in this situation. With the sharpshooter in the starting lineup during this stretch, the total jumps to 12.1 per tilt.

Timberwolves (38-29 SU, 30-36-1 ATS)

Wolves Limping Late, Turnovers Key

The Timberwolves are 4-7 SU and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games. Poor defense is the biggest issue. The team is yielding 114.7 points per game on 48.5-percent shooting. Prior, it allowed 105.7 on 47.6 percent from the floor. Opponents are generating much more scoring opportunities of late. Minnesota is forcing just 12.6 turnovers in this span, as opposed to 15.3 before.

Part of the issue is scheduling. Six of the last 11 games have come against foes gifting 13.5 giveaways or fewer per night. The Wolves are 5-12 SU and ATS in this spot, falling to the number (-0.5) by 4.7 points per game. For what it’s worth, Minny is 7-11 SU and 6-12 ATS on the season when failing to force at least 13 turnovers in a contest.

The good news is this takeaway weak spot isn’t in play when the Warriors storm into town. Golden State, the third-quickest team in the NBA, averages 100.1 possessions per 48 minutes. No matter how well one protects the rock, turnovers happen given the high amount of ownership. The Warriors average 15.3 giveaways per night.

Pick

This is just the fourth time this season the Timberwolves, who are getting 5 points on the NBA odds board, will tip off as underdogs at Target Center. The "over" cashed easily in the other three, a 231.7 average final score besting a 220.0 total overall. Minny surrendered 116 points or more in each. Don’t expect as much production out of the Warriors tonight. The figure equals the most points any Kerr-coached team has put up on the road with Curry out. Since 2014, Golden State averages 103.3 per night in this situation, 108.0 with Durant starting. Go against the line movement and pick "under" 226 with your NBA picks.
