The Clippers will be visitng Houston to continue their second game of their NBA playoff series. The Clippers have been quite a surprise team, beating the Rockets on Monday night. Will they repeat this result again?

LA Clippers vs. Houston Rockets (-6-) 9:35 ET TNT TV
The LA Clippers remain in Houston to continue their best of 7, 2nd round series against the Houston Rockets. First game of this series was played Monday night with the Clippers emerging with a 117-101 victory. It was an incredible win, considering that the Clippers were playing with just 2 days’ rest, following a Game 7 victory against the defending champions, San Antonio Spurs, on Saturday night. It was even more impressive, considering that the Clippers were playing without lead guard, Chris Paul. It was a sloppy game which saw 47 TOs committed. Now, the teams have 48 hours to regroup. Paul is again listed as doubtful for this contest with his balky hamstring.  The Houston Rockets look to regroup for revenge, and are the favorites for tonight according to the NBA odds.

Six players stepped up to score in double figures for the Clippers on Monday night. They were led by Blake Griffin, who scored 26 points, grabbed 14 boards and dished out 13 assists in the absence of Paul.  He was ably joined on the boards by Jordan, who pulled down 13 rebounds and added 10 points. Austin Rivers filled in well for Paul in the starting lineup. But, it was 6th man Crawford who had the bigger game with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  In short, it was a team effort as the Clippers banned together for the improbable victory. Trailing at the half, the Clippers exploded for 71 2nd half points, including (11) 3-pointers.

Houston clearly played their worst game of the post season when they committed 24 TOs and looked lethargic throughout!  Strong precedence comes for the Houston bounce back, as they are now 20-7 ATS, following a defeat this season. In the Monday night defeat on this floor, Houston was led by Howard with 22 points and 10 boards and Harden with 20 points and 12 assists. Ariza contributed valuable support with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  But, the rest of the Rockets’ team left much to be desired. Several times in the game, the Rockets passed up easy layups to kick it out for the 3 point homerun!

Whether the Rockets were rusty, following a 6-day layoff on Monday or complacent, knowing that Chris Paul was out of the lineup for the Clippers, expect a huge bounce back from them tonight. Home favorites to +4 following a double digit loss to a greater than .570 foe are a strong 70%+ play, when priced as the better team or in Game 2 or 3 of an NBA Playoff series. With the Rockets’ strong history this season to bounce back off a loss, we lay the points and play the Rockets with confidence for our NBA picks.
