Western Conference contenders jockey for position Thursday as the new-look Los Angeles Clippers travel to the Bay to face the injury-riddled Golden State Warriors. Read on for our Clippers vs. Warriors NBA picks based on the best NBA odds.

The playoff race in the Western Conference is unbelievably close, as the No. 5 seed Golden State Warriors are just four games ahead of the No. 13 seed Portland Trail Blazers. Every win matters this time of year, and Golden State will try to go a game up on the No. 6 seed Los Angeles Clippers when they visit Chase Center tonight. 

Despite missing Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, Golden State is on a three-game win streak, while Los Angeles has lost three in a row after adding Russell Westbrook. The teams have split the first two meetings, so who will win the rubber match?

I’ve had a terrible time betting against Golden State this season. Just when I think they’re finally going to slip up at home, they find a way to cover (or outright win), despite missing key starters. Golden State is 4-0 straight up and ATS as the home dog this season, getting quality production from their available players and channeling the raucous energy of the home crowd.

Klay Thompson has been a catalyst for the team over the last month, but he’s been especially potent since the All-Star break. Over his last four games, Thompson has averaged 29.8 points and 6.3 triples per game on 48.8% shooting. There might be better pure scorers in the Association, but no player in recent memory can heat up and burn quite as brightly as Thompson.

No Curry, no problem? Golden State is 10-3 straight up at home without Curry this season, and the team has reeled off four straight without him at Chase Center. Of the three home losses without Steph, only two have come by at least four points, and one was on a desperation, buzzer-beating heave from Saddiq Bey on a broken play.

Golden State’s defense — a hallmark of the team’s success in recent seasons — has regressed significantly this year. The team ranks 24th in opponent points per game and 16th in opponent points per game at home. Fortunately, the offense is humming, averaging 118.4 points per game overall (second in the NBA) and 119.8 points per game at home (fifth in the NBA). 

Los Angeles has allowed 139.3 points per game to opponents over their last three which is easily the most in the NBA. If Thompson can stay hot and the likes of Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, and Jonathan Kuminga can knock down shots, the Warriors’ offense can outscore the Clippers and take this game outright.
