Even though the Clippers and Wizards have been playing slower and more defensive basketball as of late, a matchup against one another is the perfect atmosphere for a higher scoring game, and because of their recent trends, the sportsbooks are undervaluing the possibility of a game where both teams are well into the 100s.

After opening at 211, this total has plummeted to 208 points and while I might be in the minority in this next statement, but I think it’s going in the wrong direction.

Ignore for a second the Wizards’ recent games without John Wall, and the Clippers’ sudden three-game winning streak. Outside of that you have two teams very capable of scoring, and both are also capable of giving up points.

Even with the Wizards playing better defense at home, the Clippers present some matchup issues in Washington. DeAndre Jordan is going to be hard to stop on the offensive glass for Washington, and he has helped the Clippers to become a top-10 offensive rebounding team.

On the flip side, the Wizards ranks 24th in defensive rebounding rate, and if the Clippers are getting second chances, they will likely get some three-pointers off of what I’m assuming is several Jordan tip offensive rebounds.

Both of these teams are allowing their opponents to post an effective field goal percentage above 50%, and in their last three games have easily gone over the total.

Their first matchup finished 113-112 and that was without Wall in the lineup. Tonight in Washington, I could see an even higher score than their meeting last week.
