We share our NBA betting verdict & free pick as the San Antonio Spurs look to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the first round of the NBA Playoffs at the expense of the LA Clippers.

Clippers (1-2, 0-1 away)
After a rousing start to the first round series with the San Antonio Spurs, winning the opening game 107-92, the Clippers succumbed to back-to-back losses. A narrow 111-107 overtime loss in game 2 at home was followed by a 100-73 rout in game 3 on the road. Indeed, after failing to capitalise on the opportunity to take a 2-0 lead in the series, the life seemed to seep out of Los Angeles Clippers. The upshot of which they are down 1-2 in a series that started so very promisingly. Looking more likely than not to go out of the NBA playoffs in the first round.

As it is, the NBA odds are stacked against them in game 4. The Clippers are matched as the significant road underdogs at +215 at YouWager to win outright and as the 6-point road pups.

Still, there are those NBA bettors that are convinced the Clippers have something to prove in game 4 after Friday's blowout. That they are still very much in the series, needing only a win in game 4 to underscore that notion. It remains to be seen whether they can pull off the feat. The Clippers went 26-15 SU on the road in the regular season. And they are just 7-9-0 ATS as road underdogs with a 4.4-point margin of defeat.

Spurs (2-1, 1-0 home)
San Antonio Spurs bounced back in game 2 with a heroic overtime win on the road that seemed to spur them into action. Game 3 was a comprehensive rout of the Clippers that underscored their Championship credentials. It was one of those nights where everything seemed to go their way effortlessly, particularly Kawhi Leonard. The Defensive Player of the Year scored a career- high 32 points in Friday's beat down.

To be fair, keeping up such a tempo from game-to-game is going to be challenging, if not impossible. Even coach Gregg Popovich said as much in his succinct appraisal of Friday's account by claiming his boys weren't THAT good and the Clippers weren't THAT bad (or as bad as the scoreboard or the game itself suggested).

The Spurs finished the regular season with a solid 33-8 SU record at home and 22-17-2 ATS as home favourites with a 10.3-point margin of victory.

NBA Betting Verdict:
San Antonio Spurs have the momentum going into game 4 with back-to-back wins; the last of which was the most convincing of the series thus far and it should buoy their hopes to clinch game 4 and take the 3-1 lead back to Los Angeles for game 5. As the home faves at -250 NBA odds to win outright, therefore, the Spurs strike a convincing pose. That makes them our choice NBA pick to win outright.

As far as spread betting goes, we fancy the Clippers to give the Spurs a run for their money as the 6-point underdogs. The Clippers will have a chip on their shoulder after Friday's humiliation and they're sure to play a much better game this time around.

NBA Picks: Spurs to win at -250; Clippers to cover at +6.0
