There's a good chance points will come very easy in tonight's game between the Clippers and 76ers. Does that mean the OVER is the automatic play?

Odds Overview

Very early NBA odds have the Clippers listed as 8.5-point favorites, while the O/U has opened at 206. The high total isn't a shocker, considering the OVER has hit in 14 of Philadelphia's 21 games this season and is 11-10 in matchups featuring Los Angeles.

Neither team has been very profitable against the spread, but the Clippers have been better in that regard at 11-10 ATS. The 76ers are 9-12 ATS to go along with their 7-14 SU record.

Los Angeles Clippers

This hasn't been too successful of a road trip for the Clippers so far. They've lost to Atlanta and Cleveland, while their only win was against a short-handed Memphis team.

L.A. had their chances in the 88-82 loss to the Cavaliers, but an ice-cold offensive effort was too much to overcome. Doc Rivers' team connected on a mere 32.2 percent of their shots, which included a dreadful 20.0 percent (7-of-35) mark from three-point range.

Chris Paul's shot wasn't falling (4-of-16 FG, 1-6 3GM-A), but he still found other ways to make a difference. He had 13 points, 15 assists, seven rebounds and there steals in the loss.

Blake Griffin ended up with 10 points, 10 boards and four assists, while DeAndre Jordan (12 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks) also had a double-double. Jamal Crawford and Willie Green were the other two Clippers to score in double digits.

Despite falling short against the Cavaliers, there couldn't be a better cure to L.A's offensive troubles than this upcoming date with the defensively-porous 76ers. Let's see if they bounce back in style.

Philadelphia 76ers

We're starting to see the 76ers come back down to earth after their surprising start.

These guys have lost six of their previous seven, with their only win coming in overtime at home over Orlando. Five of those six defeats have come by double digits, which includes home losses to New Orleans (121-105) and Denver (103-92).

Against the Nuggets, Philadelphia choked away the lead after being up by as many as 10 points at one point. The 76ers were leading 53-49 at halftime, but they just couldn't sustain it in the second 24 minutes.

Individually, Tony Wroten filled in admirably for Michael Carter Williams, scoring a team-high 20 points to go with five rebounds in close to 33 minutes of play. Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young and Hollis Thompson all scored in double figures as well.

The 76ers can score just fine, but they can't stop anybody on the other side of the floor. They're tied for 27th in defensive efficiency, certainly not a good omen with Chris Paul and the Clippers coming to town.

NBA Pick

It's tempting to roll with the Clippers regardless of how many points they're favored by. They're clearly the better team and the 76ers' lack of defense could easily lead to a blowout in the road team's favor.

However, we feel more comfortable taking the OVER in this NBA betting spot. The Clippers are scoring lights out (104.6 PPG), but haven't been nearly as good on the defensive end of the floor.

The 76ers won't have MCW with them, but Wroten has proven he can get it done as the starter and there's plenty of shooters surrounding him. Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young, and Evan Turner are just a few of the names that have been putting up big numbers for this young team.

So, after analyzing the different angles, we are going to be on the OVER with our NBA picks.
