After the Los Angeles Clippers started the year red-hot they have slowly begun to decline this last week. Today things will not get easier for them and they travel to take on the reigning NBA champs. Here's our NBA pick.

Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles has dropped three games in a row after losing in overtime to the lowly Brooklyn Nets. They might've been looking forward to this game as they did not come out sharp and let Brooklyn get back in the game the second half. Currently Los Angeles is averaging 108.6 points per game which ranks sixth in the NBA, and they are allowing 98.9 which ranks them seventh. During the first month of the season they were leading the league in most offensive categories but have been lacking a bit on that end of the floor recently. They still have some solid defensive statistics allowing opponents to shoot just 43.2% overall which ranks third in the league. What will be the point of contention tonight though is they are facing a Cleveland team that can flat out shoot the three and right now the Clippers are allowing opponents to shoot 36.5% from range. Offensively they have been good getting into some transition and their overall shooting percentages are solid ranking fourth in the league at 46.2%. Cleveland has been less than stellar defensively so I look for Los Angeles to be able to keep up with them.

 Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland is coming off a tough road loss to Milwaukee in which they did not play very well but are currently averaging 111.3 points per game which ranks second in the NBA. Cleveland is a team that likes to get out and run and put up a lot of threes as they average 35.4 attempts from distance which ranks second in the league. They also knocked down a lot of those shots averaging 39% and averaging 13.8 three-pointers made per game which also ranks second in the league. However, on the other side of the ball they have been susceptible to teams that can also score. Being a team that likes to give up a lot of attempts at 89.4 per game, which ranks 28th in the NBA, has left Cleveland giving up quite a few points from time to time as they allow opponents to shoot 44.7% from the floor and 35.5% from distance which ranks 15th and 21st in the NBA respectively. Because they are at home they should be able to find a way to win but they're just not a lockdown type of defense so I expect for the Clippers to take this to the wire.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have Los Angeles at a +5 underdog and for my NBA pick, I will take them plus the points. Although they have not been playing well lately this is still a talented team that plays good basketball on both ends and should take this game to the buzzer.
