The Chicago Bulls have definitely struggled this season but they look to go into the break with a win catching Boston off a back to back. Can Chicago take care of business at home just before the All-Star break?

Boston Celtics

Boston is currently in first place in the Atlantic division but is in a little bit of a tough spot coming into this game on the second leg of a back-to-back. Brad Stevens has a deep squad that can really put up points as they average 108.3 points per game which ranks sixth in the NBA. As well they also rank sixth, seventh, and eighth in the NBA in shooting efficiency, two-point shooting percentage, and effective field-goal percentage respectively. Recently it seems they have started to pick things up on the defensive end as well and they are not pushing tempo is much as they did last season. Boston ranks in the middle of the league at worst in most defensive percentages highlighted by allowing opponents just 34.5% from beyond the arc which ranks them fourth in the NBA. They are definitely the better team in this spot and they have shown some good resilience playing well off of most of their back to backs this season. In fact, they have won their last three games in the same type of scenario so look for them to come out of Chicago with a win.

 Chicago Bulls

Chicago’s coming off a very nice win versus Toronto but there is a reason why they are still a small underdog in this match up. It seems that head coach Fred Hoiberg has had difficulty with this veteran lineup as Chicago has not done anything particularly well on either side of the ball. Currently Chicago is shooting just 44.1% from the floor overall which ranks them 27th in the league, along with ranking 29th and dead last in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. Defensively they have been somewhat better but they still are allowing opponents to shoot over 46% from the floor, and on top of all that they have not been good at limiting opponent’s tempo wise. I’ve a hard time believing they can come out with a win tonight against a very polished Boston team that is simply better on both sides of the ball.

NBA Odds

Odds makers have made Boston a -1 favorite in this spot and I will gladly lay the point with them on the road for my NBA pick. Although it makes a little bit of sense considering that Chicago is getting healthy this is still a good Boston team that plays well on the second leg of back to backs.
