The NBA is getting into full swing and there are a few games that are very intriguing in tonight’s matchups. Let’s take a look at some of the slated action for Saturday night and see if we can find a few quality bets to make.

Grizzlies vs Cavaliers

Memphis is coming into today’s game having lost 10 games in a row and are completely spiraling out of control, both on and off the court. Off the court, The Grizzlies are dealing with an interim coach after their head coach David Fizdale was fired after feuding with Marc Gasol. Gasol will try and say that his complaints had nothing to do with Fizdale’s firing, but it is hard to imagine the star player publicly voicing his displeasure, not playing a role in the coaching change.

On the court, the Grizzlies are struggling to compete because of a pure lack of talent with other teams. Memphis is forced to play too many young players without much NBA experience, and to the surprise of no one, those players are struggling. The Grizzlies have been starting rookie Dillon Brooks in the backcourt while Mike Conley is out with his Achilles injury. Brooks is simply not ready to compete with the best point guards in the world on a nightly basis, and the Grizzlies are suffering because of it.

The Cavaliers are coming in on a 10 game winning streak and have finally gotten back on track after their up-and-down play to start the season. One of the catalysts for the Cavs team has been the stellar play from Kyle Korver and Dwyane Wade coming off the bench. Korver has a net rating of 17.1 and Wade has a net rating of 8.3 on the season and that means that when they are on the court together they are positively impacting the game for the Cavs and allowing Lebron to get crucial rest to preserve his body for the course of the season.

This game has a little bit of a personal spin on it since LeBron and Wade were both members of the Miami Heat when Fizdale was an assistant coach, and both voiced their opinions when Fizdale was fired. Look for LeBron and Wade to make Memphis pay for their perceived disrespect of their friend and mentor.

Pistons vs Sixers

Detroit is coming off of an embarrassing loss to the Washington Wizards on Friday night, in which they were outrebounded 49-22. Washington is not known for being a strong rebounding team, meaning they out hustled the Pistons to a lot of loose balls and put forth more effort than Detroit. The Pistons will try to get back to their dominant ways when they face the Sixers in Philly, and the key matchup will be between Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid. Embiid and Drummond got into a bit of a dustup after these two teams first meeting of the year, in which the Sixers won 97-86. Drummond did not take too kindly to Embiid’s trash talk and after the game tweeted December 2nd as an indicator of their next matchup. Well December 2nd is here and these two will certainly try to battle it out for their pride and their respective team's victories.

Drummond is coming off of a 14 point 17 rebound game against the Wizards and will look to bring that physicality on the glass to Embiid. Joel is well rested after sitting out the second night of a back to back on Thursday against the Boston Celtics. Embiid has not played since Wednesday but is definitely expected to play Saturday night.

Look for the Pistons to even the score and tie up the season series with the Sixers.

Lakers at Nuggets

The Lakers are showing some of the promise that the NBA world expected before the season started and it all starts with the play of Lonzo Ball. The Lakers rookie point guard has still not found his shooting stroke, but has shown the flashes of the brilliant passer that made him so highly touted coming out of UCLA. Ball is averaging 9.2 points 7.7 assists and and 7.9 rebounds per game, and has a commanding control over the offense.

The other bright spot for the Lakers this season has been the surprise play of Julius Randle off of the Lakers bench. Randle lost his starting job to Larry Nance and instead of pouting, he has used that as motivation to become a better basketball player. Coming off the bench suits Randle because he is able to showcase his playmaking skills and create offense for himself and others.

The Nuggets roster is suddenly turning into a MASH unit with all of the injuries piling up. Paul Millsap is already out with a broken wrist and now Nikola Jokic will miss at least two weeks with a sprained ankle. It will be hard for the Nuggets to compete without Jokic and this is a smart opportunity for bettors to take advantage of a struggling teams woes.
