Cleveland came out firing the other night against Detroit and they look to do the same against Utah Jazz tonight at home. Oddsmakers have made Lebron and company a decent home favorite in this spot. With Utah on the second leg of a back to back, is there any way they can hang with the Cavaliers?

Utah Jazz

Utah has remained one of the best defensive teams and rank first this season on that side of the ball allowing opponents just 96.6 points per game, and 47.4% on opponent two point shots. They also remain in the top five in the league in pretty much every defensive category, but the one that will hurt them tonight is the fact that they do not defend the perimeter all that well, allowing opponents to shoot 35.9% from distance which ranks them 16th.

On the other side of the ball, they go to snail’s pace getting up just 78.9 attempts for the game which ranks last in the NBA, but their efficiency ratings are not bad. Utah ranks eighth, ninth, and 10th in two points, overall, and three-point shooting percentage. For me, though I think this is a tough spot to back Utah considering the fact they just played last night and Cleveland seems to have turned a corner with their last game. I think the Cavaliers will get to the tempo they like and win this game by double digits.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland has played less than stellar basketball since the All-Star break going 5-5 in their last 10 games. However, this is a good spot to take them minus the points as it looks to me they possibly turned the corner in their last game. Utah can be a tough matchup for just about anyone in the league but this is also a little bit of a revenge game for Cleveland who lost in Utah just a little earlier in the season 92-100. This will be about the pace tonight and I think Cleveland being at home will be able to control that as well as knocking down shots from distance.

Currently, the Cavaliers are shooting 39.2% from beyond the arc which ranks second. This will be the point of contention tonight as that is where Utah can struggle as previously mentioned. Utah has been decent on the road this year but Cleveland catches them in a nice spot after playing in Detroit last night. This might stay close for a half but look for Cleveland to roll and cover the number.

Utah Jazz vs Cleveland Cavaliers

Oddsmakers have Cleveland as a -6.5 favorite and for my NBA pick, I will back Lebron and company in this spot. Although I have a lot of respect for Utah and how they play defense I think this situation is just a little bit too difficult for them to overcome.

Free NBA Picks: Cavaliers -7

Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3067610, "sportsbooksIds":[238,1275,300,123,999996], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
