Surprisingly Chicago has beaten Cleveland the last four times they have met up, and today one might think they can cover considering how Cleveland has been playing recently. Oddsmakers have made Cleveland a decent road favorite though so is there any value in taking them tonight?

Cleveland Cavaliers

For the first time in a long time, Cleveland is now not the front-runner in the Eastern conference and they have been playing way below their standards the past two weeks. Still, this is an extremely talented team that should be fired up to get the bad taste out of their mouth after getting throttled in San Antonio. To me, it seems like Cleveland needs to be able to get up and down the floor in order have some success and they should find that tonight against a Chicago team that pushes tempo.

Statistically speaking this is still a deadly Cleveland offense that ranks in the top five in the league in most categories highlighted by ranking second in shots attempted and made from beyond the arc, as well as three-point shooting percentage at 38.5%.  Defensively they have not played well this season but they do rank 10th in opponent shooting efficiency.  Despite their lack on that end of the floor, I like how they match up with Chicago and this is a good spot to back them to come in and play at a high level.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago desperately needs a win tonight sitting just outside the top eight in the Eastern conference.  I think they will find things difficult though against a very motivated Cavs team tonight and Chicago has at times really struggled this season on both sides of the ball.  Defensively they have been better than last year but they still allow opponents to shoot 46.2% from the field which ranks 21st.  What is alarming though is how poor they have been statistically putting the ball in the basket shooting just 44.3% from the field and 33.1% from distance ranking them 25th and 27th in the league respectively.  Even worse is they rank 28th and dead last in the league in shooting efficiency and effective field goal percentage.  Cavs are due for a big game so expect just that even though the Bulls need the win more.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Chicago Bulls

Oddsmakers have made Lebron and company a -5.5 favorite. Although they have not had much luck against the Bulls the past few matchups for my NBA pick, I expect them to play hard from tip to final buzzer and win this game by close to double digits.
