Jae Crowder’s hot first half ruined our perfect Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but Kevin Love came through for us yet again -- and now it’s time to cash more winning prop tickets for Game 5 between the Cavs and Celtics on Thursday.
Playoff Props Record: 17-11Boston Celtics O/U 103 points
The Boston Celtics have been a different team at home this season, and I think we see that once again on the brink of elimination. While we all know the Cavs will probably win this game -- and if they don’t, they will almost surely win Game 6 back at home.
However, Thursday we have a unique opportunity with Boston. Even without Isaiah Thomas, the Celtics’ offense has almost gotten better. They are scoring less, but they are efficient by moving the ball and getting open looks. All five guys are a threat to score, and with Kelly Olynyk in the lineup at power forward, the C’s have a ton of shooting on the floor to open the game.
With Marcus Smart playing well and the C’s at home, I like the 'over' at 103 points. Cleveland’s defense has been pretty poor over the last two games, or at least in Game 3 and in the first half of Game 4. Boston dropped 57 points in the first half of Game 4, and if the Celtics can come out with that kind of intensity at home and with their backs against the wall, I like them to go over '103.'Free NBA Pick: 'Over' 103 (-110)Best Line Offered Both: Bovada
Marcus Smart O/U 13½ points
I’ve always liked Smart’s game. His offense is a work in progress, but there’s no doubt in my mind he is going to be a great NBA player. However, after a 1-for-9 performance in Game 4, he has a total of just 13½ points after cashing the 'under' at 14½ in Game 4.
Smart is averaging 8.5 points per game at home in the playoffs and if that is a baseline for him tonight I like him to get six more points to cash us the 'over.' During the regular season, Smart was a respectable 31.2% from beyond the three-point line, and if he is hitting those shots at home the should have about 15 points.
During the playoffs Smart is shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc in the playoffs and over 42% in this series thanks to his 27-point explosion in Game 3. Smart can get hot from deep. He has posted 12 games this season with at least three or more makes from beyond the arc, and without Thomas in the lineup Smart’s shot volume will be there. If he is making those, we are making money.Free NBA Pick: 'Over' 13½ (-125)
