The Cavaliers are a dumpster fire right now, and the loss of Tristan Thompson is not going to help. Cleveland’s defense was already bad, and it’s going to get worse with their best rim protector out for the next few weeks. Tonight they try to snap their skid in Washington as+3 ½ underdogs.

It’s kind of odd saying that the Cavs are underdogs, but here’s where we are on November 3, 2017. However, without Isaiah Thomas, some of these struggles are going to continue until Cleveland gets their scoring point guard back from injury.

LeBron James teams that undergo a lot of turnover tend to start the year slow. I remember back in 2010 when everyone thought the world was falling on the Big Three in Miami when they started the year 9-8.

This is what is going on with this Cleveland team. The fact that they are old, without one of their best players, and have 5-6 new guys in the rotation is going to take another two to four weeks to figure out, and it may not be fully figured out until January when Thomas is supposed to come back.

So, there are a ton of questions for this game with the Cavs, especially as underdogs. Cleveland has been an underdog only 34 times since 2015, which includes the playoffs. They are 17-17 ATS in those games, and in my eyes the spread is simply untouchable. You can gamble on the Wizards here, who might not be a bad play ATS, but the better wager is on the total of 220 points.

Washington sits inside the top 10 in pace right now to start the season, averaging over 100 possessions per game, and the Cavs sit at 15th in the league currently at a pace of 98.5.

Washington has been impressive on offense at home, averaging 117 points per game this season, and with the way Cleveland has been playing defense, I expect all of that tonight from the Wizards. Cleveland has allowed almost 111 points per game on the road so far this season, and over their last five they are allowing exactly 117 points per game.

I see this one with a final score of 115-110, so add the over to your NBA Picks.
