Charlotte has likely accepted the reality that the playoffs aren’t in its immediate future, but knocking Cleveland down a notch might be enough incentive to get inspired tonight.

The Cavaliers, who were blown out by Miami on Tuesday night, have struggled defensively this season. However, on the second night of a back-to-back, Cleveland is just 2-10 cashing "over" the full-game total on the NBA odds board.

That being said, the Cavaliers allow an average of about 54 first-half points on the second night of a back-to-back. Against the Hornets, the first-half scores have been even bigger. Charlotte dropped 67 and 57 first-half points in their first two meetings with Cleveland, and tonight at home the Hornets' offense should thrive.

Charlotte and Cleveland rank inside the top five in first-half offensive efficiency since the All-Star break, and both are playing at paces of more than 101 in the first half since then.

Even though the Hornets are playing for very little other than pride, the pride of knocking the Cavaliers out of the top three in the East might be gratifying. That being said, either way this one goes, it should be an up-and-down first half with plenty of scoring and not a lot of defense, so grab the first-half "over" with your NBA picks.
