Carmelo Anthony Dominates New Lakers Guard Danny Green In Workout

profile

Melo is one of the most prolific scorers in league history and despite looking good in workout videos, returning to the NBA seems like an uphill climb for him.

Anthony recently played against two-time NBA champion and new Lakers guard Danny Green and he flashed shot creation ability and was able to make jumpers from all over the court while also dunking, just like in his best days. While a potential new team won’t give him so much responsibility, seeing that he is still a skilled offensive performer against a quality NBA defender is encouraging.

Not to mention that he looks slimmer and with an explosive first step for his age. There were conditioning concerns about Anthony in recent years so teams in need of a scorer off the bench should at least consider him for a veteran minimum deal.

Carmelo Anthony has averaged 24.0 points in 1064 career games (1056 starts) with the Nuggets, Knicks, Thunder and Rockets but he hasn’t played in the NBA since November 11, 2018 against the Thunder when he scored just two points on 1-for-11 from the field (9.1 percent) and grabbed five rebounds over 20 minutes.

The 10-time NBA All-Star signed a $2.4 million veteran’s minimum deal with the Rockets last season but he played just 10 games for them before being traded to the Bulls for the draft rights of Tadija Dragievi. He never played a game in Chicago and was released in January. The 35-year-old averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game with the Rockets.

The free agent forward had an early morning training session with LeBron James and Chris Paul on August 9, has participated in informal scrimmages with Nets players in Los Angeles and unofficially scrimmaged with the Knicks. He also looked great at Chris Brickley’s Black Ops Basketball Run.
