In the final preseason slates where the starters should see heavy minutes, but nothing is guaranteed. That makes tonight’s small three-game slate both enticing and dangerous. Here are your Free NBA picks!

NBA Preseason Picks Record: 3-2

 Wolves vs. Thunder

The Timberwolves’ new identity under Tom Thibodeau is going to be defense first. After a poor showing last week against the Hornets, Thibs’ team has come back to limit their last two opponents to 88 and 96 points respectfully. However, those were also the Nuggets and Heat, two teams not anywhere close to offensive fire powers like the Thunder.

OKC is still figuring out things after the Kevin Durant departure, but one thing they can do is score. The problem is their defense is a bit suspect outside of their frontcourt, but they will have everyone available tonight except Cameron Payne, so the Thunder defense might improve some, but their offense is going to improve even more.

For my NBA Pick, I expect a high scoring game between these two, with both teams getting into the 100s. With the Totals on the odds board at 209 points and at the time in the preseason when defense starts becoming an afterthought, the over looks like a great value play for Sunday night.

 Nuggets vs. Blazers

The Nuggets may be without their starting point guard Emmanuel Mudiay for this game after he sprained his ankle two nights ago and that isn’t even their biggest problem. Trying to stop Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum looks like their toughest task in this game.

Right now the sportsbooks have the Blazers as -5 NBA Odds favorites at home to close out the Sunday slate of preseason action and I really like laying the points with them. Favorites of -5 or less have been great plays at home lately, as I’ve talked about in previous articles.

The Blazers have been no exception, winning both of their home games in the preseason. Tonight is their last exhibition home game, so look for Portland to try and shut down the Nuggets early and often.

This Blazers team might be undervalued once again heading into the regular season as well. With the addition of Evan Turner and the growth from all their other star and core players, this team is going to threaten the upper class of the West at times. Do they have title potential? No. However, they do have the potential to be undervalued by bettors and sportsbooks this season, making for a nice play on most nights, much like tonight.
