Although the NFL takes centerstage on Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-10) will have to provide a maximum effort as the Portland Trail Blazers(12-4) have come out of the gates fast and furious and possibly ready to make a run at the NBA Title. See who we like as our betting pick in this lopsided matchup.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 pm ET tonight at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Odds makers expect a lot of points to be scored in this game as 5Dimes Sportsbook lists the NBA odds total at 212.5 points and the Blazers are a 12.5 point betting favorite.

Portland has one of the best starting 5 in the NBA, led by Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge. Do the T-Wolves stand any chance in this matchup or will this game be a blowout as expected?

Lillard Listed as Probable
This could make things interesting as the old flu bug comes around this time of season and has hit Damian Lillard. The betting odds say that Lillard will play, but his status isn't definite as of this time.

WIth something like this, Lillard's minutes could be limited as he gives it a go. This is one of the best point guard in the NBA and itwould be a big blow to Portland if Lillard were unable to play.

He's averaging 20.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. If Lillard wasn't able to play, backup Steve Blake would get the start. Blake has a ton of experience with the Los Angeles Lakers and is primarily known for his 3-point shooting, solid defense, and ability to come through in clutch situations.

LaMarcus Aldridge
He's not in the elite category of a Lebron James or Kevin Durant, but forward, LaMarcus Aldridge, is in the "2nd tier of talent" in the NBA as far as I'm concerned.

Aldridge has a nice jumper from 20 feet or in and can take the rock to the hole as a big man quite effectively. If Lillard is unable to play, I expect Aldridge to carry a larger role on a well-balanced team that features the likes of Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum (when healthy) and Robin Lopez.

For the season, Aldridge is averaging 21.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. His shooting efficiency is a bit off this season, but he's money from the charity stripe. That said, I don't expect foul shooting to be a factor in this game as Portland will win this game quite easily with their experience and talent.

The Timberwolves do have something to cheer about as they outlasted a Lakers team that doesn't know how to play defense. Minnesota defeated L.A. at the Staples Center on Friday, 120-119. In this game, Zach LaVine led the Wolves with 28 points on 11 of 14 shooting, coming off the bench and veteran Mo Williams chipped in with 25 points and 11 assists.

This is a very young Timberwolves team with a lot of recent NBA draft picks and we don't know if these picks will pan out. In the meanwhile, veterans such as Kevin Martin and Thaddeus Young lead the offense for this very deep group with talent.

Unfortunately for Minny, Kmart will undergo surgery on his wrist that will leave him out for 6 weeks and that will even put more pressure on the veterans and the overall #1 pick in this year's NBA Draft in Andrew Wiggins.

A Learning Process
At 6 foot 8, 199 pounds, Andrew Wiggins will need to put on muscle in the off-season if he wants to be able to deal with the big men in this league such as Marc Gasol. At 19 years old , Wiggins could still be growing and as he grows, his game will grow.

Thus far, he's held his own, averaging 11.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Wiggins has had glimpses of brilliance such as the 29 point performance that he had against Sacramento on November 22nd. This trade should work out well for the Timberwolves as there have been rumors that Kevin Love doesn't want to play with Cleveland for more than one season.

Although the status of Damian Lillard play's a large role in this game, the Portland Trail Blazers are playing at peak performance while the T-Wolves are still trying to gel as a team with a mixture of young guns and vets. When making your NBA picks today look for Portland to "blow away" the ineffective Wolves.
