Our NBA handicapper has isolated three top totals picks on Monday’s card. Don’t make a move in the NBA this evening without first reading this convincing betting preview article.

Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers 7:05 PM ET
This will be the first meeting of the season between these Eastern Conference teams. They met three times a season ago, and each of those contests went over the total. There was a combined average of 217.7 points scored per game.

Philadelphia has gone 4-2 over the total this season, and that includes 2-0 in their previous two games. The 76ers are allowing 103.7 points per game so far, and opponents are converting on a robust 38.7% of their three point field goal attempts.

Chicago is averaging 104.7 points per game on the road, and has shot a blistering 43.7% from beyond the three point line. I like this game to be a high scoring affair in comparison to the current posted total for one of my NBA picks.

NBA Pick: Over 196.5 (-105) at Heritage

Portland Trailblazers vs. Denver Nuggets 9:05 PM ET
Portland has gone over the total in each of their previous four contests, and there was a combined average of 210.3 points scored per game. According to current NBA odds, Portland is a 1.0 point underdog in tonight’s game. The Blazers are 23-9 over the total during the past two seasons when installed as an underdog.

Denver has allowed 109 points or more in three of their last four games. The Nuggets were 3-1 over the total in four games against Portland a season ago, and there was a combined average of 225.3 points scored per contest. This will be the first meeting of the season between these Northwest Division rivals.

Portland enters tonight with a 4-3 (.571) record and Denver comes in at 2-4 (.333). The Blazers have gone over the total by 18.0 and 23.0 points respectively in their last two games.

Any road team (Portland) with a total of 200.0 or more, coming off two games in a row in which they went over the total by 12.0 points or more on each occasion, and they possess a winning percentage of .510 to .600, versus an opponent (Denver) with a losing record, resulted in those games going 33-11 (75%) over the total since 1996. There was a combined average of 213.5 points per game scored.

Detroit Pistons vs. Golden State Warriors 10:35 PM ET
Detroit has seen four of its last five games go under the total (192.4 PPG). The Pistons have been solid defensively to start the season, allowing just 94.0 points per game, and opponents have converted on only 30.9% of their three point attempts. They’re also limiting the opposition to a paltry 17 free throw attempts per game.

The Warriors have the reputation of a fast paced team and superb shooting team. That stigma has been certainly well earned, and there’s nothing to suggest otherwise. However, unequivocally the most underrated aspect of their game is defensively. Case in point, Golden State has allowed 94.0 points per game, held opponents to just a 39.9% field goal percentage, and that includes a stingy 28.7% from three point territory.
