Tonight's Denver-Chicago and Charlotte-Brooklyn matchups feature high totals, meaning value can be found in those games. Don't look for either to reach the respective number.

These teams have met once this season, in November, and they combined for 221 points. A big 222 total was set on the NBA odds board for tonight's rematch, and with my NBA picks I will once again back "under" the total despite the fact Denver and Chicago have gone "over" the last four times they have met. While Denver has been one of the better shooting teams in the league, hitting at almost 47 percent to rank ninth, Chicago has been abysmal, shooting an NBA-worst 43.7 percent. Neither team has been very good on the defensive end. Denver allows opponents to shoot 48 percent, which ranks last, along with allowing opponents 41.3 field goals made per game, which ranks 25th. All that being said, though, Chicago is averaging only 104 points in their past three contests. I think for these teams to get to this total, both will need to contribute. Although there has been an uptick of points on both sides of the ball in their last few games, don’t expect this one to go that way.

A very big total of 221.5 points was set for this matchup, so with my NBA picks I’m going to back the "under." In their most recent matchup on March 8, Charlotte and Brooklyn combined for 236 points to go well past the 217.5 set on the NBA odds board. Both teams shot way over their normal percentages, with Brooklyn hitting more than 51 percent from the floor and Charlotte at 48.2 percent. The pace was decently fast but I think the total set for tonight's game is a knee-jerk reaction by oddsmakers. On the season neither team is shooting particularly well, with Charlotte averaging 44.6 percent from the floor and Brooklyn 43.8 percent, ranking them 26th and 29th in the league, respectively. Although they are far from defensive juggernauts, both teams have been somewhat decent with Brooklyn ranking 11th and Charlotte 21st in opponent shooting efficiency. I can see why the total is big, but it is simply too big.
