After getting beat in the first two games of this series, the Jazz should come back with a vengeance in Game 3 tonight. Whether that makes a difference tonight remains to be seen, but with only one game tonight, we need to get creative with our NBA Picks.
The Jazz need Gordon Hayward to have one of his huge postseason games again if they want any chance of winning a game in this series. Tonight may be their best and only chance to get one too, because if they lose tonight, they are not winning Game 4 against this Warriors’ team that could use the rest.
That means is now or never for Hayward and after 33 points in Game 2 I think Hayward comes back with another big game.
At home this regular season, Hayward averaged nearly 50% from the floor and in this postseason he has posted some masterful shooting performances. Hayward had 40 and 31-point games at home against the Clippers in the first round and if George Hill misses Game 3, Hayward is going to see a ton of shots. He played 41 minutes and had 21 shots in Game 2 and I see a similar output tonight.Free NBA Pick: OVER 24.5 (-130)Best Line Offered: at Bovada Klay Thompson O/U 20 points
Klay Thompson has not had to do much in this series and while an explosion Klay game is probably coming at some point in this series, it won’t be on the road in Game 3. Rodney Hood has done a nice job of defending Thompson so far in the first two games of the series and going on the road is not going to help. During the regular season, Thompson shot only 43.4% on the road and his three-point percentage dropped from 47.6% to 35.8% when he went on the road.
Thompson did have a big game against the Blazers on the road earlier in the playoffs, but their defense and Utah’s are two separate beasts. I could see Thompson being held under 20 points for the third straight game as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant take the lead on offense.Free NBA Pick: UNDER 20Best Line Offered: at Bovada
