By the Numbers is a daily column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Monday’s slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Pacers (40-40 SU, 37-42-1 ATS) vs. 76'ers (28-52 SU, 48-31-1 ATS)

* Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a straight up loss.

* Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.

* Philadelphia is 0-4 ATS in their last four games as a home underdog.

* Philadelphia is 1-5 ATS in their last six home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

* Indiana is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Indiana is  4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.

* Indiana is 4-0 ATS in their last four games vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400.

* Indiana is 4-0 ATS in their last four after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

I have included the 76'ers in my NBA picks on many occasions this season and have been rewarded for doing so as evidenced by the team's nearly 61% winning percentage. But I know when to get off a bandwagon that's been heading over a steep cliff for the better part of two weeks. The Sixers have gone from a lousy team that frequently covers the number to a lousy team that doesn't. Conversely, the Pacers are playing every game down the stretch like it's their last one and that has manifested in four consecutive ATS covers. The Pacers are 7-3 ATS versus the 76'ers over their last 10 meetings and the numbers say that trend will continue.

Nets (20-60 SU, 39-39-2 ATS) vs. Celtics (51-29 SU, 39-39-2 ATS)

* Boston is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Boston is 0-5 ATS in their last five games vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400.

* Boston is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite.

* Boston is 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven games as a home underdog of 5.0-10.5.

* Brooklyn is 7-1 ATS in their last eight after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Brooklyn is 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.

* Brooklyn is 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games.

* Brooklyn is 5-1 ATS in their last six road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The oddsmakers are simply giving too many points to Brooklyn in this one. Yes, the Nets own the dubious distinction of having the worst straight up record in the league. However, this is a club that has been covering in bunches over the last month as evidenced by their 14-6 ATS mark since March 6th. The Celtics are of course vying for the top spot in the Eastern Conference which is why the public will be backing the Shamrocks tonight because "they need the win." Well, that thinking inflates the odds and just remember, the Celtics need only win by one to meet their objective. Brooklyn has covered two of three against the Green this season and we see them doing it one more time with the generous double-digit head start.
