By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Tuesday’s slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Bulls (38-39 SU, 39-38 ATS) vs. Knicks (29-48 SU, 40-37 ATS)
  • New York is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up loss.

  • New York is 6-1 ATS in their last seven after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • New York is 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss.

  • New York is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5.

  • Chicago is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.

  • Chicago is 8-17 ATS in their last 25 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.

  • Chicago is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as a road favorite of 0.5-4.5.

  • Chicago is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one days’ rest.

The Bulls have brought home the cash for all those backing them in their NBA picks over their last 10 games, covering the number in eight of those contests. Chicago now touches down in the Big Apple to face an underwhelming Knicks’ club which is why the NBA odds makers have installed them as 3 ½ point road favorites. However, it appears as though the Knickerbockers will get their leading scorer and perennial All-Star back in uniform tonight as Carmelo Anthony will suit up after a two game absence. His contributions coupled with the recent history between these clubs, that has seen New York win and cover the last four meetings, suggests that we have a live home dog on our hands tonight. Let’s grab the points and watch the Knicks complete a season series sweep of their rivals from the Windy City.

Timberwolves (31-45 SU, 34-42 ATS) vs. Warriors (63-14 SU, 37-37-3 ATS)
  • Golden State is 7-1 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite.

  • Golden State is 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.

  • Golden State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.

  • Golden State is 7-0 ATS in their last seven when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game

  • Minnesota is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • Minnesota is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games.

  • Minnesota is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog.

  • Minnesota is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

The Wolves are coming off a narrow 110-109 victory over the Trail Blazers last night as two-point home chalk in the only game on the NBA slate yesterday (yes, we had Portland +2 in yesterday’s By the Numbers column) but must now travel to the Oracle Arena and face the best team in basketball. Playing the second leg of back-to-back games is tough enough but against GSW it is a tall mountain to climb. Thus, the question is not who will win but by how much? Golden State is playing like a team determined to reclaim the world title they lost last year as evidenced by their 11 game winning streak and covering the number in nine of those opportunities. Look for Curry and company to roll over the T-Wolves tonight.
