By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Saturday's slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Hawks (39-36 SU, 34-41 ATS) vs. Bulls (36-39 SU, 38-37 ATS)

* Chicago is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win.

* Chicago is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.

* Chicago is 5-0 ATS in their last five games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

* Chicago is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

* Atlanta is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight up win.

* Atlanta is 1-8 ATS in their last nine games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

* Atlanta is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5.

* Atlanta is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win.

The Bulls have been covering the NBA odds in bunches as the season winds to a close. Thursday night they won for the 19th consecutive time when at home and televised on TNT with a 99-93 victory over the Cavaliers as 5½ point home dogs. That was their sixth cover in their last seven outings. They will now take on a Hawks team without their leading scorer (Paul Milsap) and steal leader in Thabo Sefolosha (groin). Chicago is making a valiant effort at sneaking into the eighth and final playoff spot by playing their best basketball of the season. Let's lay it and watch them continue to cash for those who back them in their NBA picks.

Suns (22-54 SU, 37-37-2 ATS) vs. Trail Blazers (37-38 SU, 35-40 ATS)

* Portland is 4-1 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Portland is 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.

* Portland is 5-0 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.

* Portland is 6-0 ATS in their last six when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Phoenix is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog of 11.0 or greater.

* Phoenix is 0-7 ATS in their last seven games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

* Phoenix is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

* Phoenix is 1-5 ATS in their last six after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

Here we have an example of two teams going in opposite directions. The Suns are in the midst of a shame spiral, having dropped 10 consecutive games and covering the number in just three of those contests. On the other hand, the Trail Blazers have won and covered eight of their last nine, including a 117-107 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. The last time these teams met the Suns were playing much better than they are now and still fell 110-101 as two-point home dogs. Now they are in hostile territory playing a team that did nothing but win and cash in the month of March.
