By the Numbers is a daily column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Sunday’s slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Thunder (45-34 SU, 43-35-1 ATS) vs. Nuggets (38-41 SU, 43-34-2 ATS)

* Denver is 4-0 ATS in their last four after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Denver is 6-2 ATS in their last eight Sunday games.

* Denver is 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite.

* Denver is 4-0 ATS in their last four games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

* OKC is 1-4 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* OKC is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5.

* OKC is 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5.

* OKC is 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Both teams in this one have something to play for with the Thunder trying to stave off Memphis from claiming their sixth seed in the postseason while the Nuggets are merely trying to break through the playoff barrier and force the Trail Blazers into making vacation plans earlier than expected. Denver has covered the NBA odds in their last four consecutive games while the Thunder was torched by the Suns 120-99 in their last outing on Friday night as nine-point road chalk. Let's go with the team that needs it more and has gotten it done for all those who have recently backed them in their NBA picks.

Mavericks (32-47 SU, 42-36-1 ATS) Suns (23-57 SU, 39-39-2 ATS)

* Phoenix is 0-4 ATS in their last four home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.

* Phoenix is 0-7 ATS in their last seven games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

* Phoenix is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.

* Phoenix is 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games as a home favorite.

* Dallas is 24-9-1 ATS in their last 34 games following a straight up loss.

* Dallas is 21-5 ATS in their last 26 Sunday games.

* Dallas is 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss.

* Dallas is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.

These clubs have played three times this season and the Suns have won and covered two of those meetings. However, the one game the Mavs did win and cover was the only one held in the desert. And now we are back to the scene of the crime (if you happen to be a Suns' fan of course) and the Mavs get a Phoenix team that just snapped a 13-game losing streak with a win over the Thunder. Let's back the visitors with the small head start that they won't need.
