Our NBA consultant provides us with a revealing betting preview pertaining Game 5 of the playoff series between Chicago & Cleveland on Tonight. His NBA pick will be geared toward the total.
Pivotal Game 5 in Bulls/Cavaliers Series
The Cavaliers and Bulls will square off in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference playoff series on Tuesday at 7:05 PM ET in Cleveland. The series is currently deadlocked 2-2 with each team gaining a split on the road. According to the NBA betting odds at Wagerweb, Cleveland is a 5.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 191.5. These Central Division rivals have seen three of their four meetings played in Cleveland this season go under the total.
The Chicago Bulls have really ratcheted up their defensive intensity down the final stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs. They’ve allowed 96 points or less in six of the last seven, and ten of their previous twelve games. Chicago has also held nine of their last fourteen opponents to less than 40% shooting from the floor. Putting their defensive playoff numbers into perspective, they’re allowing 91.1 points per game, and holding opponents to a paltry 39.6% shooting from the field.
Cavaliers clamp down on the Opposition
When you think of the 2014-2015 Cleveland Cavaliers, a plethora of offensive talent like LeBron James, Kyrie Ervin, and Kevin Love (injured) comes to mind. What often gets overlooked is their play on the defensive end of the floor. Cleveland has held Chicago to an average of just 90.3 points per contest, and a paltry 38.0% shooting from the field during the last three games of this series. The Cavaliers have allowed less than 100 points in each of their previous seven games, and five of those seven stayed under the total. They’re allowing only 94.0 points per game, holding opponents to a poor 41.4% shooting from the field, and allowing them to convert on a terrible 32.1% of their three-point attempts during the 2015 NBA Playoffs.
I’ve already detailed the defensive prowess of each team during this postseason. Both clubs also have some intriguing same season trends that favor a low score in Game 5. Chicago has gone 19-9 under the total on the road this season when the number is 190.0 to 199.5. The Bulls are also 11-2 under the total this season as a road underdog of 6.0 or less. Cleveland has gone 11-2 under the total during the 2014-2015 NBA campaign as a home favorite of 5.5 or less. With all things being considered, I like this contest to be a low scoring game for one of my NBA picks on Tuesday.
NBA Pick: Play on Chicago & Cleveland to go Under the total of 191.5 at Wagerweb.
