Chicago's Jimmy Butler and Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins' production may be key factors in covering the total, while the Pelicans' failure to defend the 3-pointer will likely doom them. Check out the angles here.

Wizards vs Bulls (-4)

Trends to consider: The UNDER IS 18-8-1 when Chicago takes the hardwood this season. Cold shooting is holding the team back. The Bulls average only 101.6 points per game, scoring more than the betting market projected 10 times all season.

The Wizards present a tough matchup for Chicago’s offense. When leading scorer Jimmy Butler puts up 25 points or fewer a night, the UNDER is 13-1. Butler averages just 10.8 points per game versus the Wiz in his career, third fewest against any team.

Washington does a good job protecting the rim with center Marcin Gortat controlling the paint. In 2016, Chicago’s offense particularly struggles when Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, and Butler fail to drive to the hoop and create chances. Versus teams allowing 42 points or fewer from down low, the Bulls have stayed under the total in 10 of 11 games with one push. Scoring dips to 94.8 points per game as opposed to 106.9 against opponents allowing more. Washington yields 41.4 from the paint per night, 11th fewest in the league.

Thunder (-1) vs Pelicans

Trends to consider: New Orleans is one of the league’s worst at defending the arc. It allows 10.8 3-pointers per game. Only the lowly Nets (10.9) yield more. Nearly half of the Pelicans’ 10 wins (4) have come in five games where it held opponents to six 3s or less in a contest. The Thunder have drained more than six from downtown in 12 of 14 games against defenses allowing more than the NBA average of 104 points. New Orleans gives up 106.9 a night (23rd).

Kings vs Jazz

Trends to consider: The Kings have put up 98 points or fewer in 12 of 16 road trips this season. The UNDER is a perfect 7-0 when Utah holds a foe below this many points at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The Jazz own the league’s best scoring defense, gifting 94.9 points per game.

DeMarcus Cousins, who was one point shy of his career-high with 55 in last night’s 126-121 win over Portland, is paramount to covering the over-under for Sacramento. The UNDER is 10-3 this season when Boogie drops less than 29 points. He’s scored more than this amount once in 10 matchups in Salt Lake City.
