The Portland Trail Blazers had one of the best defenses in the league to start the season, and while that has subsided just a bit, they are playing an equally tired Suns team tonight, and the NBA Odds for the first half total are ripe with value.

Portland is still very much in the hunt out West, so they are going to continue to take these games seriously after a big win last night in Utah. The Suns on the other hand are much better off losing, and the way they have played in the first half recently shows that.

In their last five games straddling the All Star Break, the Suns have allowed an incredible 64.4 points per first half. They gave up 79 points to the Clippers on Friday in the first half, and they have routinely given up 60 or more points per first half during there games leading up to the break.

With the Blazers’ offense picking up steam, I like the first half total at 106 points. If the Suns’ defense doesn’t show up like it’s been recently in the first two quarters, Damian Lillard and company should easily put up 60 points in the first half.

In their last two meetings this season, the first half combined scores have been 118 and 117, so while it might not be that high scoring, it’s going to be more than 106 points.
