San Antonio Spurs vs Atlanta Hawks
The San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics played to a relatively high-scoring game yesterday as they combined for 188 points. That’s quite a big over considering the total at SportsInteraction was set at 157.5. A large part of that was the Boston Celtics as they’ve been dragging teams into shootouts the entire tournament. San Antonio played at their pace. However, the Spurs have mostly been a solid defensive team and I expect them to get back to a lower scoring affair with Atlanta.

As for the Hawks, the logic is similar. Dallas dragged them into a high-scoring affair – as we predicted yesterday – but Atlanta has played in the 70’s for a number of games. I’ll look for them to get back to that with the Spurs and for us to get an under.

Phoenix Suns vs New Orleans Pelicans
This is a showdown of two teams that have played very well in Las Vegas Summer League action. The Suns took care of business with the Chicago Bulls last night as they won 91-84. It was yet another high-scoring affair for the Suns as the total going into that game was 166 yet the teams blew past it with 175 points. The Suns have been playing to plenty of lofty totals mostly because their offense hasn’t been stopped by anyone. They have scored at least 86 points in each and every contest. They’ve been led by T.J. Warren, who has arguably been the most impressive player in the tournament. Last night, he scored 31 points on 13-of-23 shooting while collecting six rebounds, a steal and a block. That’s after he had 23 in his previous contest. On top of that, Archie Goodwin has been strong too as he had 20 points last night with six rebounds and two assists while rookie first-round pick Devin Booker also continues to shine as he had 13 points with four rebounds and two assists.

Over in this matchup is what makes sense as New Orleans offense has been cooking too. Seth Curry has been leading the way for the Pelicans, who are still undefeated in Vegas. He’s coming off another strong effort as he poured in 24 points last night to go with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. He’s actually received plenty of support from the rest of the team, which should be good news for their regular season squad. Khem Birch had eight points and 12 rebounds last night, Victor Rudd had 22 points and five rebounds, and Fuquan Edwin had 19 points and three rebounds.

All in all, we should see ample points from both sides as both offenses are cooking. Go with the over in this one.
