We’re going to examine Tuesday’s NBA game between Memphis and New Orleans. Go inside to review with us the NBA odds for this contest, and it culminates with an NBA pick.

Southwest Division Battle in New Orleans
A couple of Southwest Division rivals will collide on Tuesday when Memphis hosts New Orleans. The opening tip at the Smoothie King Center is slated for 8:05 PM ET. Current NBA betting odds at indicates this game is a pick, and the posted total is 200.5. This will be the first meeting of the season between these teams. The home team won all four games played a season ago.

Rounding Into Form
The Memphis Grizzlies began the season by getting off to a disappointing 3-6 start. Since that time, they’ve regrouped to go 7-2 in their last nine games. They’re currently second in the Southwest Division standings, and trail first place San Antonio by 4.0 games with better than three quarters of the regular season left to play. The Grizzlies have returned to playing the style of basketball we’ve become accustomed to over the past few seasons. They’ve allowed 96 points or less in five of their previous six games, and held opponents to 77 field goal attempts or less on each of those occasions. Three of those six games also resulted in Grizzlies opponents shooting less than 40% from the field. That type of defensive effort is what we’ve witnessed from Memphis in recent times, and was an integral part of their success in becoming an upper echelon team.

Horrible Start for Pelicans
There were fairly high expectations for the New Orleans Pelicans entering this 2015-2016 NBA campaign. So far they’ve failed miserably in living up to what their fans and front office were expecting. They began the season by losing 11 of their first 12 games. They followed that dismal stretch by winning three games in a row, and seemed to be on their way to climbing back up the proverbial ladder. Then they regressed terribly in each of their previous two games, losing road contests to the Clippers 111-90, and 101-87 against Utah. On a positive note, they have won their last two home games over San Antonio and Phoenix. Three of their four wins this season have come at home.

Final Thoughts & Pick
Wagering on New Orleans right now is like going all in, and hoping to catch an inside straight on the river card in a Texas Hold’em poker game. It’s possible, but highly improbable. Memphis is starting to play with the confident swagger that’s made them one of the more difficult teams to play against. I’m going to favor the road team for one of my NBA picks on Tuesday.
