A quick glance at the NBA standings leaves one scratching his head as to why the 13-7 SU Cleveland Cavaliers (on an 8-game winning streak) would be an underdog to an 8-13 SU OKC squad.  But, the paragraphs below will clearly answer that question.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. OKC Thunder 8:00 ET TNT
On November 23rd, Cleveland stood 5-7 SU on a 0-4 SU ATS slide in which they averaged less than 90 PPG in losses to Denver, San Antonio, Washington and Toronto by an average of over 10 PPG.  Since that time, Cleveland has turned the tables with 8 consecutive victories.  A closer look at the schedule provides the answer.  Yes, there has been a pair of victories against Eastern Conference leader, Toronto.  But, the common thread in each of those 8 victories is that they have all come against teams from the Eastern Conference.  Now, the Cavs must play on one of the toughest home courts in the league, against a Western Conference opponent.  For the season, Cleveland is 2-4 SU ATS vs. the West with victories against only sub-.500 teams, Denver and New Orleans.  As Cleveland rebuilds around James, Irving and Love, they may enter this game with a false sense of confidence.

Consider that when West meets East, they are 83-38 SU.  That includes 3-0 SU ATS last night with LAC handling Indiana, SA defeating NY and Denver overwhelming Miami.

On November 25th, OKC stood 3-12 SU with the worst record in the Western Conference.  They were obviously negatively impacted by the loss of their two best players, Durant and Westbrook.  Since the return of that dynamic duo, OKC has gone 5-1 SU.  That has improved their record to 8-13 SU.  But, that is only good for 12th place in the Western playoff queue. They are 3 games behind 8th place Phoenix.  Most notable in that recent 5-1 SU run is their 3 victories on this court.  They have come by scores of 97-82 over Utah, 105-78 vs. the Knicks and 114-01 vs. Milwaukee.  That will lead to great confidence when they take to the floor tonight.

With Durant and Westbrook in the lineup, the Thunder are getting better each and every game.  Tonight, on a home court where they will play with supreme confidence, they will be highly motivated against a Cleveland team who may eventually prove to be the best in the East.  With this year’s history of West vs. East clearly favoring the Thunder, we confidently lineup at this NBA odds value price with the more talented, more motivated team for our free NBA picks.
