San Antonio Spurs (-5-) vs. Chicago Bulls 8:05 ET TNT
A classic West vs. East matchup takes place at 8:05 ET tonight, when the San Antonio Spurs travel to the United Center to face the Chicago Bulls on TNT.  Chicago is currently the 4th seed in the East with a 27-16 SU record, but only 12-10 SU on their home court where they stand 7-15 ATS, including 0-2 ATS as home dog.  San Antonio enters with an identical 27-16 SU record, including 12-10 SU on the road, where they are 6-3 ATS as road chalk of 4 or more points. Note that although the records are the same, the Spurs’ mark has been crafted by playing 30 of 43 of their games against tougher Western Conference opposition. But, it is the current form of these two which leads to this momentum play.

The Chicago Bulls’ season has headed south in a hurry! They enter on a 2-9 ATS slide. That includes 2-6 SU recently, including consecutive losses to Atlanta (107-99) and Cleveland (108-94).  Note the points allowed in those two games because defense has clearly been at the root of the Bulls’ problems.  Under current HC Thibodeaux, the Bulls have annually been one of the best defensive teams in the league.  In the last 3 years, the Bulls have allowed point totals of 88.2 PPG, 92.9 PPG and, last year, 91.8 PPG.  This year, for the 1st half of the season, Chicago is allowing 99.7 PPG.  Those numbers have declined even more in the recent past.  In the last 8 games, the Bulls have allowed their opponents to shoot 49% against them.  Six of their last 8 foes have scored more than 100 points against them. With 2 of their better defensive players, Noah and Dunleavy, remaining out of the lineup with ankle injuries, there may not be a quick fix for Chicago defensive issues. It will certainly be challenged by the strong offense of San Antonio.

Follow Up on the NBA Odds Real Time

The Spurs went through their own down streak in December. Dealing with numerous injuries, most notably to Parker and Leonard, the Spurs hit the skids with a 5-9 SU mark. With Parker and Leonard returning to full health, San Antonio has gone 8-2 SU of late with only 2 of those opponents scoring more than 100 points against them. This includes a recent streak of 4-0 SU ATS with the last 3 being double digit victories against Portland, Utah and Denver

No question, the Spurs are playing much better ball of late. Until the respective momentum changes, there can be only one side in this game. That’s particularly true, knowing that the West is 147-75 SU against the East, including 42-31 ATS as of late. In addition, NBA single digit road chalk continues to make huge money at 112-73 ATS, add them to your NBA picks.
