The late game hammer tonight should be another good one between the Rockets and Blazers, The NBA Odds have this one at a pick em, with a total of 205 points. Both teams are jockeying for playoff position, so which team should we back tonight with out NBA Picks?

To MVP or not to MVP?
James Harden has been amazing this season, and it’s probably making Thunder fans sick watching him soar with the Rockets and not back with what could have been an NBA dynasty in Oklahoma City. Tonight against the Blazers, Harden should be unstoppable. The loss of Wesley Matthews really hurts the Blazers on defense, so keep this in mind when looking over the NBA odds. Matthews is a great shooter, but his defense on the wing was one of the reasons this team is so good. However now without him, they have very few options in trying to defend Harden here.

However the Rockets have been down one of their best defender almost the entire 2015 calendar year so far, and it doesn’t look like he will be ready for tonight’s game. Dwight Howard has missed five weeks after undergoing knee surgery, and while he is getting close to a return, he is still at least another week or two away. This has put a strain on the Rockets defense, and I see it giving them some trouble against the big men from Portland. LaMarcus Aldridge is obviously going to go nuts in this game, but Robin Lopez as well could be a big factor. While he is the lesser known and probably lesser skilled than his twin brother in Brooklyn, Robin is still a solid NBA player, and he has closed the gap significantly between him and his brother over the last two seasons. He is going to give the Rockets problems on both ends tonight.

The Sharp Pick
All of this is why I am once again going with the over between these two teams. While they both are two of the top teams in defensive efficiency this season, they are at the point in the season where defense is getting really hard. On top of that, these two have cashed the over against one another in both of their meetings this season, and they are both trending that way as well as of late.

The over is 9-4 in the Blazers last 13 games against teams with winning percentages of 60% or better. The Rockets as well are cashing the over in 11 of their last 14 games against winning teams. The Blazers have cashed the over in four of their last six games overall, and in four of their last five games as favorites. Plus after a bad loss, the Blazers will want to bounce back here, and history has shown us that they can. The over is 7-3 in their last 10 games following an ATS loss, and in five of their last seven following a SU loss.

The Rockets on the other hand have cashed the over in seven of their last nine games as road dogs, and while they are still 3rd in the league in pace, this total is simply too low for how fast and efficient this game should be on offense. Take the over and add if to your NBA picks tonight.
