Dallas Mavericks vs. Sacramento Kings 10:05 ET
The Dallas Mavericks visit the Sacramento Kings at 10:05 ET tonight at Sleep Train Arena. It will be a matchup of contender vs. pretender. Sacramento is at 17-30 SU, floundering among the also rans, following consecutive seasons in which they went 28-54 SU. The Dallas Mavericks are again in the playoff chase with a record of 33-18 SU. That is good enough for the 6th spot in the Western Conference playoff queue. These teams have already met twice this year. Dallas won 106-93 at home, and then won in Sacramento 108-104. The Mavs are now 20-2 SU in this series.
With a healthy Demarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay as a potent 1-2 scoring punch, Sacramento looked like they had turned around the fortunes of this franchise with a 5-1 SU ATS start. Since then, it has been all downhill for the Kings, who have endured the firing of HC Milone and a bout of meningitis for Cousins. That means they are 12-29 SU of late. But, it is even worse more recently with a record of 1-9 SU in which they have allowed 110 PPG and 47% shooting. For a team who makes just 29% of their 3s (at 5 per game), that is a lot of defense to overcome. Their Sleep Train Arena home court has not been an ally. For, the Kings are just 10-16 SU, 8-18 ATS at home so consider this when looking over the NBA odds.
Even without recently acquired PG Rondo (facial, will miss this game), the Mavericks have enough scoring power to win this contest. Last night, they led Golden St. (40-18) in the 1st quarter. But, 51 points by Steph Curry on 10/16 shooting from behind the arc led to a 128-114 Golden St. win. That came on the heels of Golden St. beating Sacramento the previous night, 121-96. Last night, the Warriors canned 19 triples! With the Kings averaging just (5) 3 pointers per game, it is unlikely that will be an issue for the Mavericks again tonight. The Mavs average 107 PPG (second best in the NBA). They will certainly enjoy the 105 PPG Sacramento defense. The Mavs have been the NBA’s best road favorite in recent years with a record of 28-15 ATS. That includes a mark of 11-4 ATS this season as single digit road favorite. That is part of a league wide trend that has witnessed all NBA single digit road chalk to now stand 126-92 ATS.
Make Dallas Mavericks your NBA pick to bounce back, against the struggling Kings’ team whom they have dominated.
