Mavs-Celtics: The Match-Up
Dallas just completed a 3-0 home-stand, and has won six of its last eight games. Last Friday the Mavs beat the Lakers 102-98; Sunday they beat the Thunder 112-107; and last time out, Tuesday night, the Mavericks bombed Washington 114-87, easily covering as five-point favorites.

Dallas led the Wizards by 18 at the half, and bumped that to 28 in the third quarter, breezing to the victory. The Mavs shot 52 percent from the floor, hit eight of 15 shots from beyond the arc and committed just seven turnovers.

At 23-10 Dallas is tied with Houston for the four/five spots in the Western Conference standings.

Boston, meanwhile, has struggled since trading Rondo. The Celtics just snapped a four-game losing streak with a 106-84 victory over Sacramento Wednesday, winning SU as two-point home dogs. Boston led by 10 at the half, and by 23 early in the fourth quarter in its best performance in a couple of weeks.

The Celtics shot 47 percent from the floor Wednesday, and held the Kings to just 37 percent shooting.

Prior to that win, though, Boston had lost four in a both SU and ATS, falling at Miami and at Orlando, at home to Brooklyn and at Washington.

At 11-18 Boston sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but it's just a game behind eighth-place Miami.

Dallas took the first meeting between these teams this season 118-113 back in November, but couldn't cover as a nine-point home favorite. The Mavs led 40-19 after the first quarter, and by 26 at halftime, but the Celtics rallied all the way back to pull within one point with a minute to go, before running out of gas.

Dallas shot 54 percent from the field that game, and made 14 of 25 shots from 3-point range. But Boston won the battle on the boards by a 60-43 margin.

The Mavs also swept the two games from the Celtics last season, by scores of 102-91 and 94-89.

Mavs-Celtics Free Pick
Boston is coming off one of its best performances of the season, but we have our doubts as to whether they can do something similar again so soon. Dallas, meanwhile, is the better team in this match-up, should win this game, and the spread is manageable. If this contest were being played in Big D the Mavs would probably be favored by double-digits. So we like Dallas as our NBA pick.
