For one of my selections today I'm going to take the Boston Celtics getting +1 in a game I think they will win straight up.

Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta is averaging 104.4 points per game, shooting 47% from the field, and 36.2% from beyond the arc. There been very efficient on offense and rank fourth in the NBA and effective field-goal percentage at 52.5%. They had their winning streak snapped at home against the Timberwolves and then were kind of lackluster in their win against the no Anthony Davis Pelicans. Their numbers are outstanding on the offensive end of the floor but recently they have not been sharp defensively. Whether or not they will make a strong playoff push, what I thought was a no brainer two games ago, remains to be seen.

Defensively the Hawks are allowing 100.1 points per game, 44.3% shooting from the field, and 34.2% from beyond the arc. Defensively those are pretty pedestrian numbers and a far cry from where they probably want to be. They have been tough in the paint allowing just 40.8 points per game which ranks eighth in the NBA but their perimeter defense outside that area has not been solid allowing 23.6 assists per game, ranks 22nd, and 17th in the previously mentioned opponent shooting from beyond the arc. They could struggle tonight against a Boston team that likes to move the ball and shoot the three.

Boston Celtics
Boston is averaging 101.1 points per game, shooting 41.7% from the field, and 28.4% from beyond the arc. They simply did not play well against Indiana off a back to back the other night but I expect them to play much better tonight off of some rest. Brad Stevens has put an emphasis on shooting the three as they average just over 27 attempts per game which ranks sixth in the NBA. The issue is they haven't been efficient at making them ranking 27th in three point percentage. Tonight though they face an Atlanta team that has not defended the perimeter particularly well so I look for them to knock down more than their 7.7 per game average.

Defensively the Celtics are allowing 98 points per game, 42.2% shooting from the field, and 34.2% from distance. They have played much better on this end of the floor so far this season as compared to last and rank in the top ten in most defensive categories. Out of these the one that stands out to me is they have only allowed 35 opponent field goals made per game which ranks third defensively in the NBA.

Very interesting line in this match up when we consider the records and finishes last year. I think the odds makers have it right though and for one of your NBA picks I recommend backing the Boston Celtics getting the point and most likely pulling off the minor upset.

NBA Pick: Celtics +1 at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882591, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
