One of the final Christmas Day games is the Lakers and Bulls tipping off from the United Center in Chicago. Early NBA Odds from BetOnline have the Bulls as large -10 favorites, with a total of 206 ½.

Kobe Bryant’s Christmas Status
Kobe Bryant has noted that his body is starting to break down after carrying the Lakers on his back for the entire season, and he had to miss the Lakers’ game on Tuesday against the Warriors. The Dubs were coming off a tough back-to-back game, and without Bryant, they still lost to the Lakers. With the Lakers’ coming off that win without Bryant, there still has been no definitive word on whether or not he will be playing in Chicago on Christmas night. Kobe will have a full four days to rest up for the game in Chicago, but even if he does play, or if he misses, the Bulls’ NBA odds still look pretty good at -10.

Bulls’ Recent Dominance
The Chicago Bulls are back, and with the recent play of Derrick Rose, and the continuing improvement of Jimmy Butler, the Bulls have the best backcourt in the NBA right now. I know all about Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, but the Bulls’ backcourt has infinitely more upside on defense, and just as much upside on the offensive end. This backcourt is going to be on full display, and along with the revenge game from Pau Gasol, the Bulls are by far one of my favorite spread plays for Christmas. Gasol and Joakim Noah are going to tear up the Lakers’ frontcourt, and with the two Bulls’ guards playing at an All-Star level, LA is not going to be in the game for very long.

The Sharp Pick
This season the Bulls are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a SU win, and they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against teams with a losing record this season. On top of that, the Bulls have been on a roll ATS recently, covering six of their last eight games overall. With their win against the Dubs, the Lakers have not been bad ATS recently, covering at 4-1-1 in their last six games. However they are only 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog.

The Bulls won’t allow the Lakers to get out and run in Chicago, and if they have to play a slow down game in order to beat down the Lakers they’ll implore that strategy. Beating them up on the inside is likely as well, and with the penetration the Bulls’ guards will be getting in this game, the Lakers’ house of cards they have built after their one win over the Warriors should be quick to collapse. When making your NBA picks for this game keep in mind the Bulls’ offense has been one of the most improved areas of their team this season, and with the Lakers giving up a league-worst 109 points per game, I’m seeing at least that much for Chicago here on Christmas, and a big double digit win as well.
