"I have a dream:" a dream that we're going to go 2-0 with our best betting totals of the day in the NBA on the celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Let's live out the dream with a couple of winners.
Los Angeles Lakers (12-29) vs. Phoenix Suns (24-18)/ Total 214
A Game With Little Defense
Although the betting total appears very high in this contest, we have to remember that this is a game between two of the worst defenses in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers rank 29th in the league as they allow 106.5 points per game and the Phoenix Suns, who average 107 points per game offensively, might be able to help the Lakers offense get on track as the Suns allow 104.7 points per game.
Phoenix is coming off of back to back wins in which they scored 107 points against Cleveland and 110 points against the Timberwolves. The over the total hinges upon the offensive production of the Lakers.
In Phoenix's last game, Goran Dragic had a huge 21 point, 8 assist, and 5 rebound game. In his last 10 games, Dragic has averaged 17.7 points while shooting 54.7% from the field. Dragic was a beast last season, but hasn't been able to get it going this season. Now, that we're seeing signs of Dragic looking for and hitting his shot, this even reinforces the idea that much more that I think that this game will go over the NBA odds total as Phoenix contains talent such as Eric Bledsoe, Markieff Morris, and even Isaiah Thomas coming off of the bench.
A 32 Minute Kobe Bryant
No matter what the circumstances are, head coach, Byron Scott, declared that he won't allow Kobe Bryant to play more than 32 minutes in a game. After watching Kobe look his best all season against LBJ and the Cavs and then being relegated to the bench, I believe him. That said, a 32 minute Kobe is better than the average NBA player by a mile.
We could expect to see Nick Young have a big game against the Suns. "Swaggy P" has had a very poor season, but is coming off of an unexpected 23 point effort in a loss to the Utah Jazz. Look for Young to play well along with Jordan Hill, who has been consistent all season for the Lakers. Bryant has been feeding Hill the ball outside the perimeter and Hill has been consistently knocking down 20 foot shots. I have major confidence in this trio for Los Angeles and they should all have good games against the Suns defense.

Chicago Bulls (27-15) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (21-20)/ Total 204
Lebron James claims that this 3 game stint is the best that he's felt all season and it has shown in his play as the Cavs are now 1 game over the .500 mark with wins over the two Los Angeles teams on the West Coast.
I witnesses LBJ's effort in both games and he looks like the Lebron of old. He's so happy that he's even pointed at David Blatt and given him credit for good play calling. This is a coach who he doesn't respect, therefore you know James feels good. Look for LBJ and Kyrie Irving to have big games at home against the Bulls as Kevin Love's back has been acting up.
Let's get back to the offense. The Cavs are coming off of a huge 126-121 win over the Clippers at the Staples Center as Kyrie Irving poured in a game high 37 points. When the game was close, Lebron took over. I expect the Bulls to give the Cavs a fight as the Cavs really can't compete with the Bulls size down in the paint and with a healthy Derrick Rose, this is one of the best teams in the NBA.
Chicago is coming off of a rough loss to a much improved Atlanta Hawks team, but the good news was that Derrick Rose was a huge factor in this game with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Pau Gasol is having an MVP-like season and if Rose can be 80% of what he was in the past, this team will be a a team to be reckoned with. Look for James to force the action as the Bulls look to pick up the pace from their last game.
There's a lot of sources of offense in this game and 204 is a reasonable number. The over also looks good for our NBA pick in this game.
