Another NBA week is wrapping up with a full slate of games on the schedule for Friday night, but our expert capper, Troy Haliburton will make sure to give you some free picks that will put some extra cash in your pocket.

Heat vs Hornets

The Miami Heat have been picking up where they left off after a 30-10 finish to last season, lead by Goran Dragic who is averaging 19 points per game. The only problem with the Heat is that their star players are constantly getting hurt. Hassan Whiteside does not look like the same player after missing extensive time with a bruised knee, and Dion Waiters has been less than explosive on a bum ankle that he probably should have had surgery on this summer but didn’t in fear of missing his big payday. Whiteside will miss his eighth consecutive game and Justise Winslow will also be out with a bruised knee.

Waiters will play, but has looked limited recently, leading the way for Wayne Ellington to emerge alongside Dragic in the Heat backcourt. Ellington will have to play a larger role in terms of scoring the basketball, while James Johnson will have to be more involved as a playmaker. Around the rim finishing will be relied on by Bam Adebayo, who has played well for a rookie.

The Hornets have had the season start in very disappointing fashion by only amassing a 10-17 record so far. The injury bug has hit the Hornets as well, but the problem with Charlotte is that they don’t have the proper depth to sustain multiple injuries. Charlotte will be without Cody Zeller for a few weeks due to a knee procedure and now they will have to depend on Dwight Howard to play heavy minutes. In this game, the experience of Howard and Kemba Walker should be enough to hold off a Heat team that is a shell of itself.

Pistons vs Pacers

The Pacers have surprisingly turned themselves into one of the better teams in a rising Eastern Conference, and the catalyst behind that resurgence has been Victor Oladipo. The Indiana product has completely transformed his body and game, and suddenly is entrenched as an NBA All-Star. Detroit has gone through a make-up of their own and their catalyst was Avery Bradley. Bradley and Oladipo will matchup against each other as the starting shooting guards for their respective teams, but money is on Bradley winning that individual matchup.

Bradley is one of the best perimeter defense in the entire NBA and he will display his skills against Oladipo, who may not have the elite playmaking skills to be able to shake a pesty Bradley. One of the strengths of Bradley’s game is the fact that he can pick up opponents 94 feet away from the basket and make dribbling the ball up the court very uncomfortable. One of Oladipo’s weakness’ is his ball-handling and Bradley will expose that.

Myles Turner is having a fantastic season as a new age stretch five, but may be overmatched physically going up against the massive Andre Drummond. The Pistons will have an advantage on the boards and that should be enough to put them over the top.

Clippers vs Wizards

These two teams just met in a game less than a week ago in Los Angeles, in which the Wizards blew another double-digit lead on the young season. Washington was in the midst of a five-game west coast road trip, and did not have All-Star point guard John Wall in the lineup. Wall made his return after a nine-game absence and the Wizards non-coincidentally got back to their winning ways. Washington beat the Memphis Grizzlies and Wall got back into a groove with a 13 point outing.

The Clippers also got a few players back from injury as well. Milos Teodosic has returned from a knee injury that kept him out for about a month, and the 30-year-old rookie is the point guard that this Clippers team needs. Teodosic is a pass-first point guard who gets his teammates involved by putting them in the best positions to score. Combine his skillset with the crafty scoring of Lou Williams, and the Clippers certainly have enough offensive firepower to compete with teams.

Washington will need to defend Williams off the bench and the guy who will draw that matchup is Tomas Satoransky who has emerged as the Wizards backup point guard. Satoransky proved himself in Wall’s nine-game absence and has taken over Tim Frazier’s job as the first guard off the bench. The main difference between Frazier and Sato has to be the fact that Satoransky plays good defense.

The Wizards should win this game, but are not in the position to be favored by nine points versus competent opponents.
