Underdogs feature prominently on Monday’s seven-game NBA slate. Our NBA best bets for Monday are based on the top NBA odds.

We featured underdogs in Sunday’s best bets, and they’re back in our plans Monday! After failing to “light the beam” Saturday against the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers, the Sacramento Kings will look for a home victory against the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. The Atlanta Hawks, hungry to avenge Saturday’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets, will try to steal one on the road against the Chicago Bulls. The Portland Trail Blazers host the San Antonio Spurs in what figures to be a high-scoring game, while the Orlando Magic have a great opportunity to cover against a Boston Celtics team that’s likely running on fumes.

Here are our NBA best bets for Monday (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and BetMGM; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

NBA Top Picks

Upset: Kings ML vs. Grizzlies (+105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I picked the Kings to win Saturday against Philly, and boy was I wrong! Even without James Harden and Joel Embiid, the Sixers stole one in Sacramento, and the Kings will surely have some additional motivation against the visiting Grizzlies tonight. Memphis went down by 25 at half to the shorthanded Suns last night but only lost by two after a furious comeback. The Grizzlies may also have some extra motivation after such a bad loss, but this could be a letdown game on the second night of a back-to-back set.

Sacramento is 15-10 straight up at home, while Memphis is 11-12 on the road. After winning 11 straight, Memphis has lost two in a row on its current road trip, and Sacramento’s recent loss to Philadelphia snapped a six-game winning streak. The spread on this one is just one point, and it’s trending toward a pick ‘em. We’ll take the Kings to avenge Saturday’s narrow loss and get back on track at home. Light the beam!

Upset: Hawks ML vs. Bulls (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

We’ll turn our attention to another small spread and potential pick ‘em in Chicago as the Hawks face the Bulls in the Windy City. Chicago is just 5-6 ATS as the home favorite and 11-10-1 as the home team overall this season. The Bulls are 6-5 as home favorites straight up and 12-10 at home overall. They’ve won two straight heading into Monday’s matchup with the Hawks. Chicago covered in two games against Atlanta earlier in the season, losing by one and winning by two in those contests.

Atlanta is 5-1 across its last six games straight up, and the team is 8-7-1 ATS as the road dog. The Hawks average the third-most points per game on the road this season (116), and Chicago’s defense is simply middle-of-the-pack, even at home. Atlanta’s five-game win streak was snapped Saturday with a narrow loss to Charlotte, and there was some drama at the end of the game. Jalen Johnson was called for a foul on Terry Rozier as he attempted a three in the closing seconds of the contest, and the NBA confirmed after the game that the call was incorrect. Just like in the Kings game, we’ll turn to the team with extra motivation.

Total: Spurs-Trail Blazers Over 237.5 (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

This is a pretty lofty point total, but we’re taking the Over. Portland is 11-7-2 as the home team and 8-4-1 as the home favorite. The Blazers have hit the Over in three of their last five. Portland and San Antonio met in December and hit the Over with a combined 240 points, which is two more points than they’ll need to hit the Over tonight.

The Spurs have hit the over more than any team in the NBA with a 27-17-2 record. San Antonio is 12-6-2 as the road team and as the road underdog. The team has gone 4-1 over its last five and will add another Over with a high-scoring game against the Blazers. San Antonio allows the most points per game overall (121.4) and the most on the road (123.5), so Portland should have no problem putting up points.

Spread: Magic +7.5 vs. Celtics (-105 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Magic are eighth in the Association in cover percentage at home (60.9) with a 14-9 record, and Orlando has covered in four of its last five games. The team is 7-1 in eight games at home in which they were at least seven-point underdogs. Orlando covered in all three prior meetings with Boston this season.

Boston has won nine straight but comes into this one with the fuel tank on ‘E.’ The Celtics won their last two games by a combined five points and failed to cover in either of them. The team lists Robert Williams as questionable after he injured his knee Saturday, Marcus Smart is out after injuring his ankle in that same game, and Malcolm Brogdon will be unavailable due to personal reasons. We’re taking Orlando and the points at BetMGM, which is the only book that offers a line other than +8 and odds longer than -110.
