For our total play in the NBA Sunday we're going to look at the matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic. I expect both teams to focus a on the defensive end so I will be backing under.

NBA odds
NBA odds makers have come out what looks like a pretty low total for this game at 200.5. The way these two teams matchup though leads me to believe we're looking at a game that is going to flow with a steady pace and both teams playing better than advertised defense. For one of my NBA Picks today I am backing under the total between the Bulls and the Magic. You can still get good odds at under this total like at Pinnacle -105.

Orlando Magic
Orlando is averaging 111.5 points per game, 40.8% shooting from the field, and 28.8% shooting from distance. They had a tremendous game against the Oklahoma Thunder just the other day, a game in which they probably should have won. Head coach Scott Skiles I think is going to do a good job with this young Orlando team, but they are still a year or two away from actually competing in the East in my opinion. Offensively they have some nice options, but I look for Chicago to play solid defense against them.

Defensively Orlando is allowing 113.5 points per game, 42.8% shooting from the field, and 27.3% shooting from distance. The points per game offensively and defensively are little bit skewed because of the double overtime matchup they just had with Oklahoma. Still, they allowed the Thunder to score 42 points in the fourth quarter to send it to overtime, and I'm sure they heard about that after the game. Percentage wise they're doing a decent job on the defensive end and I expect them to continue that tonight against a good Chicago team.

Chicago Bulls
Chicago is averaging 102 points per game, 45.4% shooting from the field, and 40.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively they have been fine but they didn't play great against Detroit in their last game. Their points per game are also a little bit off offensively and defensively because, like the Magic, they went into overtime their last game. It seems like head coach Fred Hoiberg has brought a little bit more flow to the Bulls on the offensive side, but this team still has their foundation on the defensive end.

Defensively Chicago's allowing 97.7 points per game, 39.9% shooting from the field, and 22.7% shooting from beyond the arc. It seems like they still know their identity is on the defensive side and I look for them to have a tremendous effort tonight against Orlando. I simply don't see them running up and down the court with the Magic, but more so them focusing on getting stops.

Both these teams statistically are playing pretty decent on defense as far as the percentages go. I look for that to continue tonight, and for one of your NBA picks I suggest backing under the total between the Bulls and the Magic. Don't expect an up-tempo affair in Chicago.
