Dallas Mavericks collide with the Portland Trailblazers in tonight’s jam-packed NBA betting slate. Find out what NBA odds are currently trading and where the value NBA picks are to be had.

Dallas Mavericks (35-35)
Dallas Mavericks are sat third in the Southwest division behind the high-flying San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies, sporting a modest 35-35 mark on the season which puts them right on .500. They’ll be looking to clinch their 36th win of the season when they descend on the Portland Trailblazers at the Moda Center in tonight’s late NBA betting card.

As it is, the Mavericks are chasing a spot in the playoffs and a win over the Portland Trailblazers would improve their chances considerably. Recent form is a cause for concern, standing on a less than convincing 3-7 SU mark in their last ten games, but, on the bright side, they turned in one of their best performances only the other day when they beat the Trailblazers 132-120 at home on Sunday, all while closing on the NBA odds boards as the nominal +1.5 home underdogs.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak – losses to Cleveland and Golden State – and marked just their second win in their last four games. It also featured some season-best performances by Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams. The Mavericks are 37-32-1 ATS on the season with a 0.4-point losing margin and a plus 0.2-point differential versus the spread. On the road, they are 15-18-0 SU and 16-16-1 ATS with a 3.5-point losing margin and negative 0.1-point differential versus the spread. Against Conference rivals, they are 22-20-0 SU and 23-19-0 ATS with a 0.5-point losing margin and a plus 0.8-point differential versus the spread.

Portland Trailblazers (36-35)
The Portland Trailblazers are sat second in the Northwest division behind Oklahoma City Thunder and sixth overall in the Western Conference, one step ahead of the seventh-ranked Dallas Mavericks ahead of this home-and-home set between the pair. The loss on Sunday night in Dallas was a setback the Trailblazers could ill afford in this final push of the season, and it has them slipping to a woeful 3-7 SU mark in their last ten games.

The Trailblazers will look to bank on home-court advantage in this game where they are 21-12-0 SU with a 5.4-point winning margin and a plus 3.9-point differential versus the spread. And so they should as they are riding a two-game winning streak at home – wins over Orlando and Washington – and boast a solid 6-1 SU mark in their last ten home games.

Where the Trailblazers strike a convincing pose is against the spread – they are 40-31-0 ATS on the season with a 0.5-point winning margin and a plus 1.9-point differential versus the spread. At home, they are 19-14-0 ATS with a 5.4-point winning margin and plus 3.9-point differential versus the spread, and in conference action they are 24-20-0 SU and 26-18-0 ATS with 0.0-win/loss margin and a plus 2.2-point differential versus the spread.

NBA Betting Verdict
In spite of the loss to the Mavericks on Sunday, the Trailblazers enter this clash as the home chalk and considerably so given their rather solid form on the season with home-court advantage.

Bookmakers opened the market with the Trailblazers installed as the 6.5-point home chalk. Since opening doors, though, the NBA betting line has dwindled down to 6-points at most sportsbooks and hits a low of 5.5-points at several such as BetOnline, BetCris, JustBet and Ladbrokes, to name a few. It’s worth noting that consensus betting polls reveal 51.6% of the bets coming down the wire are going towards the hosts yet the NBA lines move against the hosts.

That represents reverse line movement, which could be an indication of sharp money going towards the visitors. Certainly, the Mavericks will be buoyed by their win over the Trailblazers and that could propel them towards the upset at the Moda Center. For our money, though, now that the NBA line has come down to 5.5-points at certain sportsbooks, so we’re shading the Trailblazers as the 5.5-point home chalk on our NBA picks. The current line is just inside their wheelhouse: they are 19-14-0 ATS at the Moda Center and have a 5.4-point winning margin on average.
