Both the Hornets and the Bulls are coming off losses as they meet up today. Which team will bounce back from their most recent loss?

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte most recently lost to Cleveland at home in a game in which they were not very competitive. Earlier in the year they faced this same Chicago team and beat them in Charlotte by double digits. Oddsmakers have come out making them a very slight favorite in this matchup but I think they will come away with the win. I like how they match up with Chicago and they’re playing decent basketball on both sides of the ball this season.

Currently, Charlotte is averaging 104.9 points per game and rank in the middle of the league in most efficiency and shooting percentage categories. What I like about backing them tonight is that this is a really unselfish team averaging 23.5 assists per game which rank sixth in the league and they play very solid defense. Charlotte is allowing 102.6 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 44.6% from the field, both of which rank eighth in the NBA. They also rank fifth in opponent shooting efficiency. Although they are on the road I believe they are simply the better team and I like for them to win this game tonight.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago has lost two games in a row and has not been the team people thought they would be this season. With a decent veteran core, they have focused more on the defensive end but overall they have not been playing up to expectations. Defensively they have been pretty solid allowing 100.6 points per game and ranking third in the league in opponent shooting efficiency. Oddly enough though they are allowing opponents to shoot 45.4% from the floor which ranks them in the bottom third of the NBA.

It seems like this team lacks a little bit of identity and that head coach Hoiberg has an up-tempo mindset but they don’t have the personnel to achieve this style of play. This has resulted in a very lackluster offense as Chicago ranks 29th in shooting efficiency and dead last in the NBA in both three-point shooting percentage and effective field-goal percentage.  Until they find direction and some offensive flow I think they are a good team to fade.

Charlotte Hornets vs Chicago Bulls

Odds makers have made Charlotte a -1 favorite across the board. For my NBA pick, I’m going to back them laying the point is I expect them to win this game. Chicago is simply not a team I can back with any confidence.
