The Boston Celtics fly from Denver to Minneapolis for this Monday night game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Here's my top NBA pick on tonight's game.

Boston Celtics (-5) vs Minnesota Timberwolves 8:05 ET
The Boston Celtics fly from Denver to Minneapolis for this Monday night game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game is scheduled for an 8:05 ET tip. The teams already played once this year in Boston with the Celtics prevailing (113-99) at TD Garden on December 21st. Shortly after that meeting, the Celtics began an upward surge. Minnesota has been mired in mediocrity the entire season.

Currently, Minnesota is 17-39 SU in 13th place in the Western Conference ahead of only towel tossers, Phoenix and the LA Lakers. For the 12th season in a row, Minnesota will not be invited to the NBA post-season party. Most disturbing has been their play at home, where the T-Wolves stand just 9-20 SU. Only Philadelphia and the LA Lakers have fewer home wins. This has translated into a disturbing year-long pointspread trend, which has seen Minnesota go just 9-20 ATS on this floor. The latest example of their poor play at home was Saturday night’s (103-95) loss to a struggling NY team. The going has been tough all season long, as the T-Wolves look to rebuild around the young talent that is PG Rubio, Wiggins and Towns. Towns, vying for Rookie of the Year honors, has been especially productive lately with a 22/12 log the last 14 games. Tonight, the T-Wolves are arguably in their worst role, where they stand 3-8 ATS as home underdog of 4 or more points.

Betting Analysis
A recent Boston surge has carried them to the 3rd spot in the NBA’s Eastern Conference playoff queue with a record of 33-24 SU. Their road record of 16-14 SU is 8th best in the NBA. Shortly after their December win vs. Minnesota, the Celtics began to surge, going into the All Star Break they were 10-2 SU, averaging 113 PPG. Following a loss at Utah to open the 2nd half, the Celtics bounced nicely for a (121-101) victory last night at Denver. They now enter tonight’s game on a 6-2 SU ATS run. They are also a profitable 9-4 ATS, when playing without rest this season. A catalyst for the Boston surge has been PG Thomas, who has averaged 21 PPG and 7 APG in the Celtics’ up-tick, including 28/10 the last 3 games. Thomas is just one of many examples who have shined under the guidance of GM Ainge and young HC Stevens.

I invite you to put the NBA odds in your favor and join me in my NBA pick on the Boston Celtics tonight.
