Both the Bulls and Hawks are coming off a loss as they matchup today in Atlanta. Oddsmakers have come out making Atlanta a small home favorite in this spot but I like for them to take care of business against Chicago the same as they did in early November.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago is coming off a tough loss to Dallas and has not been sharp this season on the offensive side of the ball. Currently Chicago’s averaging just 101.4 points per game which ranks 23rd in the NBA and their shooting statistics across the board are extremely poor. Chicago is averaging just 47% on their two-point shots and 31.7% from distance ranking them 29th and 30th in the NBA respectively. Their rankings for shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage follow that same order of ranking. They just have not been sharp across the board despite their attempt to try and push some tempo this year. What has really hurt them is the fact they just do not shoot the ball well from distance as they average the least amount of three-pointers attempted per game along with three-pointers made per game which is the opposite of how the league is evolving. Defensively they have been somewhat decent but they still are allowing opponents to shoot almost 46% from the floor. I’ve a hard time thinking they’re going to hang with Atlanta team looking to bounce back from a really bad loss in Detroit.

Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta suffered one of the worst losses of the season at Detroit but is still one of the better teams in the Eastern conference. Although this would be considered a down year for them in proportion to the last few seasons they are still decent enough on both sides of the ball to compete with anybody in the league. The Hawks are shooting just 45.5% from the floor which ranks them and about the middle of the league, but what I like is their consistent ball movement as they average 24 assists per game which ranks them sixth. On the other side of the ball they are much better than Chicago as they rank 10th in opponent shooting efficiency and are allowing opponents to shoot just 45% from the floor which ranks them a little better than half the league. After suffering a pretty humiliating loss at the hands of the Pistons I look for Atlanta to come out in this contest pretty fired up and win this game by double digits.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have made Atlanta a -5.5 favorite across the board and for my NBA pick I will take the Hawks in this spot. Expect for them to play inspired basketball and bounce back tonight.
